I think he has a good feel for the way the game has changed offensively based on what he says covering games in and in interviews. He seems like he would adapt and not be just defensive-minded.

I'm all for it provided Morey and Les allow him to handle Harden any way he sees fit (including benching him). If we hire another player's coach then we can expect the same level of effort and leadership from our superstar SG that we have witnessed so far this season.

JVG might actually work with this team, whereas he absolutely did not fit during his first tenure. He could coach up the defense to the level it needs to be, and I think he is much more open to Morey's preferred offense and would fully accept it.

I think he would be interested. He was interested in the Pelicans job and this job would allow him to stay home

Why not JVG AND Thibs, part 2? Because neither of them probably thinks they could get Haren to play defense.

i like jvg, but imo he is too stubborn a personality for this team. we need someone who can adjust to the opponent on the fly and adjust to our moody players (namely harden)

Bring JVG with Thibs as the lead assistant.

The issue would be JVG and his offense. Granted, the grind-it-out style from the early 2000's is long gone, but would JVG adapt? He knows how to work with big men and guards...soooo

I feel like years as a broadcaster seeing all of these other franchises from a neutral perspective has made him less stubborn. Him pretty much confessing he tried to change Steve Francis too much after seeing Westbrook flourish, and him gushing over the Spurs and Warriors offenses over the last few years makes me think he would definitely adapt offensively if given another coaching opportunity.

Because he was fired under strained circumstances - basically Les being a giant baby and whining because his 300 lb center couldn't play like Shawn Marion.

Why would he want to jump into this mess? He probably looks at Harden and sees some of the same issues that cause Francis and T-Mac to give him heartburn.

Lots to it but I for one would welcome the commitment to transition defense. At least there's that.
