She will get an early opportunity to demonstrate whether or not discrimination will be the direction of the court...

That's incredibly ironic, because in fact I found the complete opposite to be true.

But I don't like what you said to me, so i'm going to go burn down a random building and throw bricks through someone elses windows now.

    See what I did there?

Like how republican senators are trying to justify rushing their right wing justice nominee's approval 5 days before an election despite their previous stance not even considering another nominee many months before the 2016 election...

Nah, it's really not close. People in the GARM tar and feather posters for suggesting one player is better than another.

Instead of focusing on policies and bashing Trump on Covid, Roe V Wade, or Obamacare during the hearings, maybe the Democratic Senators should have focused on Barrett and her qualifications points as listed above? They might have even made a case to some Republican Senators who were on the fence to vote against her.

The kagan that was nominated to the court of appeals but Orrin Hatch let her nomination lapse? Same Kagan that was recommended by Scalia?

The GOP has always been full of it and have gone to all extremes to politicize and control the judiciary. Soon enough, you will reap what you have sowed.

C'mon man, do you honestly think there was anything Democratic senators can say that would sway their vote? Their mind was made up already.

As an ND grad, I can say Justice Barrett is wholly qualified for the position. She is a brilliant legal mind even if I don't always agree with her conclusions. I was not fortunate enough to take one of her lectures, but have friends who did and who worked for her after. It's sad to see attacks on her character, religion, resume, and especially her family.

That said, I've found that only 5-10% of my classmates (including those who worked for her) actually support her nomination given what happened to Garland. It's not a matter of whether or not she's qualified to them (she is), it's a matter of being fair and consistent with the process.

Wha? republican senators fully new her experience listed above. Which republicans were on the fence? The closest was murkowski and she caved, surrendering her principles by voting to confirm. Face it... the republican senate was going to vote yes to whoever was nominated. Because party over country. The hearings were a sham... mostly because the senators said they were going to approve before she was even named.

At the same time, the American people needed to know what was truly at stake (COVID, RvW and ACA/pre-existing conditions coverage).
