Updated article on the potential Hayes acquisition. Merge into appropriate thread if needed. http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2015/07/rockets-close-to-deal-for-chuck-hayes/ We gonna be deep as hell.
I don't really know what people actually expect from him on the court, but I don't think adding him makes this team any "deeper". It does add another veteran that can teach the young guys how to conduct themselves, though.
I firmly believe that if Chuckwagon would have been a 7 footer he would have been a star in this league. Has still carved out a good career while being undersized in the paint.
apparently you didn't see lots of chuck games, chuck dominated lots of centers defensively, even DH can't move Chuck, he is just a wall under the basket, it will definitely help with tjones and Dmo's defense, to be around the chuck wagon, for a guy that's so undersized to be in this league so long, he has to have something special
Are you kidding? I've been watching the Rockets for years. I know exactly who Chuck Hayes is. When he was with this team a few years ago, he had outstanding lateral quickness and excellent strength to go along with good leverage in the low post on defense. The problem is, he's 31 years old now, and he's going to be stuck behind Howard, Capela, D-Mo, and Jones. I mean I love the guy to death, but I don't think he'll be stepping on the court that often.
Got love for Chuck. He plays his heart out and will play a role for this team. Whether he plays much or not, his toughness, hustle and leadership ability will benefit our guys. Lets roll!
Hayes is more than a capable post defender in the low post. I still remember he he locked down KG in the paint years ago. We will need someone like that when Jones is getting abused again in the playoffs.
a lot of you guys probably havent kept up with hayes as of late. don't expect too much. he would only be here as insurance for the bigs
Dont know what they have to discuss... DM: Veterans Minimum CH: OMG yes, thank you. Rockets Fans: WTF... but DM got us Lawson so its ok I guess.
It's not the mins....it's his IQ, veteran presence and post defense. Roster spots need filling and who better than Chuck to fill the end of the bench. Good pick up.....Chuck will always be ready and would give 100% ANYTIME his number is called. Would never complain about mins; be there to be a positive veteran for the younger players. Pro's Pro
