on offense i'm not sure if chuck can even finish point blank layups anymore. and freethrows? and don't we have to pay lux tax on his contract?

He actually became quite a good finisher around the hoop in his time here, I'm sure that didn't just disappear. It's not like Joey Dorsey was a master finisher and that's essentially who he is replacing.

Freethrows- not enough sample size in recent years and he won't take many to begin with, but certainly better than Josh Smith and Dorsey were (66% in the year he actually played heavy minutes)

Lux tax- who cares? The only person this really affects is Les Alexander.

my comments were mostly tongue in cheek..

    - chuck attempting layups instead of dunking is going to be a bad influence and rub off on our young bigs

    - damn that FT form is ugly

    - after 22yrs les finally pays some lux tax….on chuck hayes….whaaaat?

If any of our bigs go out we'll have a great filler in Chuck Wagon

Everyone talking about chuck as if we are bringing him in to play heavy minutes. I think it's clear he is being brought in as a great veteran presence in the locker room, and if anything he can help the likes of tjones, Dmo and Capela with defense seeing as how he was such a great defender in his prime.

The Rockets will definitely use Chuck for defensive situations as he is a hard nosed type of player.

Chuck brings that for sure, but when we need a defensive stop with Dwight taking a game off and our young bigs are worrying whether their jocks are on straight, McHale has a big man he can put in for a few minutes who won't make a mistake. And who knows? Maybe coming here will bring back some of the old Chuck Hayes we remember well. We're a contender. Chuck's going to be pumped coming home to the Rockets.

Good spot up minutes mainly on defense. (can use him against the likes of Aldridge/Griffin, as necessary)

    Good locker room presence.

Career FT% is 62% (compared to Dwight 57%)

Former Rocket who played his heart out.

Not really sure why some fans are against signing him for Vet Min.

I'm most excited for Capella. I think he can learn a lot from Chuck.... In terms of positioning, holding your ground, strength and conditioning tips, but most importantly intel on how to guard other elite 4/5's. Chuck's got the scouting report on all them.

pippendagimp... you'll love the way this starts:

His defensive style has always seemed to be to force the opponent to say, "**** this, take the ball off my hands teammates".

Is he the only player still playing that played with Yao and T-Mac?

    Leadership only eh?

You can bet your last nickel that when one of these big time PFs gets it going against us that you're gonna see Hayes' leadership in the form of tough-nosed D, slapping balls out of his mitts and creating defensive havoc. #Chuckwagon

I'm sorry if this has been stated before but does this mean no Jason Terry?

Not to mention DMo, who's already damn good at help D, imagine him taking pointers on the bench from Chuck Wagon! I agree with Deckerd, Hayes could provide some damn good minutes in stretches. He would've helped just last year against Griffin and Green.
