Well since we traded Battier for Gay and we traded Battier for Thabeet and we traded Thabeet for Camby we should trade Camby for Gay straight up.
Ive been uber critical of Gay and the chemistry of the team since hes returned from injury when the 2 bigs are going off (Gasol- Zbo) Memphis is scary good, when Gay is trying to be the go to guy, the Grizz are a little above average trade Gay and Mem will revert to 2011-2012 season form pre-Rudy poo
I think Martin + Patterson + picks would be perfect for them. They get a starter in Martin and depth at the post. Plus Martin has only one year on his contract. This is a win-win for both teams. We basically get a better, younger, Granger. I'd definitely take that. Nobody's trading younger all-stars folks. Rudy Gay is as close to a young star as we're going to get on the trade market....that's attainable.
They're looking for a draft pick for Gay. Young player on 4-year rookie deal. Wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to get somebody like Jeffrey Taylor.
I think it's going to take a lot more than a mid - late first round pick, since that's where Taylor is projected. I think a fair deal is Martin + Patterson + 16th. If we can get Gasol for Lowry + Scola, I'd even throw in the 14th. Remember, Parsons can guard 2s as well. If we can sign Dragic, now we have: Dragic/FA Parsons/Lee Gay/Morris/Bud Gasol/Moti Dalembert/Camby That's a pretty good team right there.
Rudy Gay is going to make $54mil over the next 3 years. With the new luxury tax rules kicking in, good luck finding someone willing to give Gay that kind of money... much less throw in a young player into the pot.
It won't happen. Grizzlies will not get equal value. The few teams with huge cap space would have to be insane to give up a high draft choice (or a good player on a rookie salary) for Rudy Gay. If they trade salaries, The Grizz will not get an equal player back.
