Torocan makes a good point. 38 points and 7 assists is a rare accomplishment.. Congrats Jeremy Lin, you join the ROCKETS CLUB of 38 and 7! <script type="text/javascript" src="http://widgets.sports-reference.com/wg.fcgi?css=1&site=bbr&url=%2Fplay-index%2Fpgl_finder.cgi%3Frequest%3D1%26player_id%3D%26match%3Dgame%26year_min%3D%26year_max%3D%26age_min%3D0%26age_max%3D99%26team_id%3DHOU%26opp_id%3D%26is_playoffs%3DN%26round_is_ec1%3DY%26round_is_ecs%3DY%26round_is_ecf%3DY%26round_is_wc1%3DY%26round_is_wcs%3DY%26round_is_wcf%3DY%26round_is_fin%3DY%26game_num_type%3D%26game_num_min%3D%26game_num_max%3D%26game_month%3D%26game_location%3D%26game_result%3D%26is_starter%3D%26is_active%3D%26is_hof%3D%26pos_is_g%3DY%26pos_is_gf%3DY%26pos_is_f%3DY%26pos_is_fg%3DY%26pos_is_fc%3DY%26pos_is_c%3DY%26pos_is_cf%3DY%26c1stat%3Dpts%26c1comp%3Dgt%26c1val%3D38%26c2stat%3Dast%26c2comp%3Dgt%26c2val%3D7%26c3stat%3D%26c3comp%3Dgt%26c3val%3D%26c4stat%3D%26c4comp%3Dgt%26c4val%3D%26order_by%3Dpts&div=div_stats"></script> in case the embedded stats don't show up (club includes McGrady, Dream, Francis, Horry, Sleepy Floyd, Drexler, Yao Ming, Harden Vernon Maxwell) Spoiler http://www.basketball-reference.com...4val=&order_by=pts&order_by_asc=Y#stats::none Rk Player Age Pos Date Tm Opp GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 1 Tracy McGrady 25-192 F 2004-12-02 HOU @ DAL L 1 49 19 36 .528 6 13 .462 4 7 .571 5 4 9 9 2 3 2 3 48 2 Hakeem Olajuwon 33-062 C 1996-03-23 HOU MIN L 1 44 16 23 .696 0 0 14 18 .778 7 12 19 8 3 3 6 3 46 3 Tracy McGrady 27-237 F 2007-01-16 HOU @ DAL L 1 40 17 29 .586 4 11 .364 7 9 .778 0 5 5 7 1 1 1 1 45 4 Vernon Maxwell 25-205 G 1991-04-05 HOU @ DEN W 1 44 14 25 .560 8 12 .667 9 10 .900 2 7 9 7 0 0 2 3 45 5 Tracy McGrady 25-316 F 2005-04-05 HOU @ GSW L 1 42 18 34 .529 2 6 .333 6 6 1.000 2 3 5 7 4 0 5 2 44 6 Steve Francis 25-330 G 2003-01-17 HOU LAL W 1 49 12 21 .571 6 8 .750 14 17 .824 0 6 6 11 2 0 7 3 44 7 Tracy McGrady 28-289 F 2008-03-08 HOU NOH W 1 48 17 27 .630 3 8 .375 4 4 1.000 0 6 6 9 0 2 3 0 41 8 Yao Ming 23-163 C 2004-02-22 HOU ATL W 1 50 15 21 .714 0 0 11 13 .846 4 12 16 7 0 2 5 4 41 9 Tracy McGrady 27-319 F 2007-04-08 HOU @ SAC W 1 40 14 28 .500 3 6 .500 9 12 .750 2 6 8 10 2 1 6 2 40 10 Robert Horry 25-083 F 1995-11-16 HOU @ MIL W 1 43 16 26 .615 8 14 .571 0 1 .000 0 6 6 9 1 1 2 2 40 11 Clyde Drexler 32-288 G-F 1995-04-06 HOU @ GSW W 1 45 14 22 .636 2 6 .333 10 14 .714 0 2 2 8 5 0 2 2 40 12 James Harden 23-104 G 2012-12-08 HOU DAL L 1 46 10 17 .588 4 9 .444 15 16 .938 0 6 6 9 2 1 6 3 39 13 Tracy McGrady 27-327 F 2007-04-16 HOU PHO W 1 41 14 31 .452 3 7 .429 8 11 .727 4 7 11 9 2 0 6 3 39 14 Jeremy Lin 24-109 G 2012-12-10 HOU SAS L 1 42 11 21 .524 4 5 .800 12 12 1.000 1 2 3 7 2 2 2 2 38 15 Tracy McGrady 26-218 F 2005-12-28 HOU @ NOK L 1 45 11 25 .440 4 6 .667 12 15 .800 0 8 8 7 2 0 4 1 38 16 Steve Francis 26-030 G 2003-03-23 HOU @ SAC L 1 38 14 22 .636 4 7 .571 6 7 .857 0 5 5 9 0 0 2 4 38
notice that these members of the 38/7 club were on the Clutch City teams Maxwell Olajuwon Horry Drexler
I was pointing out the other players in Rockets History (which includes players that whipped the Knicks in the finals) who had 38 and 7. Say a new thread about Rockets players who've scored 50 points... That's Dream and Maxwell.. see? easy.
I think most of us think back fondly of Tmac. It was just frustrating that he and Yao were never able to reach their potential due to injuries (and roster strength during their peak).
T-mac was a beast in his prime. One wonders what he could have been with better luck in terms of injury.
Cynics: - "It's just 5 games man. Such a small sample. He's a backup PG at best." - "How dare you compare Lin with those other guys. I'm laughing so hard right now." - "Meh...gimme Dragic or Lowry anyday." :grin: Did I miss any? Everyone else: - "That's pretty good company. Shows he has high potential."
That's not being cynical. I'll still take those guys over Lin any day. Doesn't mean I don't think Lin has the potential to be a very good player.
Harden's first game was really impressive. I wish the coaches would just let them play on instinct from now on.
