Just because China is communist doesn't mean they are illegitimate. Other Asian countries which are not communist are also reporting very few deaths now. Why? Because of the masks. Masks are germane to this discussion because you are trying to tie a result to communism versus the more obvious reason - masks.

Death rate in the US declining rapidly, and is at the LOW END of what was forecasted. By any objective measure, that's a great outcome. A vaccine on the way, therapeutics emerging, testing leading the world, and our economy is roaring. Thank you President Trump for your leadership. If you adjust for Democratic politician incompetence, USA COVID deaths would be FAR lower.

The psychological impact of wearing masks is that it creates fear of the virus. Fear in people will delay the return to normalcy for society. For healthy people, the survival rate of the virus is well over 99.99%. And that's if you even get COVID in the first place. The negative effects of not restarting the economy (mental health, suicides, depression, job loss, food insecurity), FAR outweigh the positive effects of healthy people wearing masks. And THAT is why asking healthy, asymptomatic people to wear masks is stupid. The negatives outweigh the positives. Most liberals and mask nannies haven't thought things through to this level of detail. This is where it's important to listen to your intellectual superior - in this case, me. The vulnerable should continue to take precautionary measures, but the healthy should return to normal life.
