We had 10 threads of Fire JVG, keep in mind, we had LESS MEMBERs then too. There's some weird romanticism going on about JVG cause he's a fantastic commentator and some weed inspired nostalgia about tmac and yao, but Clutchfans history shows that the people wanted JVG fired badly. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=87744 FIRE GUNDY!!!! http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=104959 Fire JVG http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=107159 Fire JVG III http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=107201 FIRE JVG http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=108907 Theres your sign, fire JVG III http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=87787 Help Fire Van Gundy! - Email the Rockets your opinion! http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=110714 Fire/Replace Coach JVG!!!? http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=111497 Trade Yao and McGrady, fire JVG http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=114150 fire JVG , hire Brown http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=114563 Fire Van Gundy's Pathetic Ass!!!
Clutchfans history shows everything. People saying Yao was a flop, Austin Croshere was the key to success, Stromile Swift is Lord, the current Rockets are championship bound, etc. Everybody and their mother has an opinion and some have multiple seemingly contradictory opinions over a period of time. Not to mention at any given time, 50% of the board believes one thing while the other 50% believes the opposite.
Am I the only one who doesn't see tinman's OP anymore? I saw it last night. Did the HTML break in the post? spooky
Same here HeyP. I see DoD's post, HeyP's post, OsT's post & Exiled's post. And it earlier said "You followed an invalid thread" somethingsomethingsomething...
Well, tinman's post was a list of about 8 "FIRE JVG" posts from the past. Most all of them were locked at one point...as I recall, for the sheer redundancy of them. One of the "FIRE JVG" threads was started by Will, and I remember saying to myself, "Dayum, Clutch has a tough call on this one. Will it get locked, too?" And it did, like in six posts.
I saw tinman as thread creator in the front page so I had to check his thread out to vote in the poll Disappointed there is no poll in this tinman thread
I posted that there were 10 FIRE JVGs threads on Clutchfans, that must be a record for any Rockets head coach. I had a link to all of them. my point was we had less members but more people wanted JVG gone like all the time! I'll post a few links to the old threads: FIRE GUNDY IV! Damn 1999er, Clutch Crew, WILL predicted the FUTURE http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=2276552 04-11-2006, 12:14 AM #1 Will Clutch Crew Since: Feb 1999 Posts: 3,366 Member: #62 McGrady injured his back again. It's proving to be a chronic weakness. it'll plague him for the rest of his career. Unload him while he still has value. Yao injured his foot again. It's proving to be a chronic weakness. It'll plague him for the rest of his career. Unload him while he still has value. Why the hell can't Van Gundy win with a team that features Yao and McGrady? Get rid of him. Bring in Phil Jackson or Rick Adelman or somebody. Rockets fans injured their hopes again. It's proving to be a chronic weakness ...
I think JVG was a great coach but you can't win in the west without a team that has quality and he only had two great players who were injury prone and a bunch of scrubs.
I appreciate JVG's tenure and the way he stuck up for his players like few would. That being said, our offense will -again- be too heavily reliant on what Harden can create, just as it was for McGrady and we will all be cursing at him for starting Brewer. (Never forget Ryan Bowen). I think the game may have passed him by. He is a product of 90's ball and I feel there are better options out there.
Go back and read those threads. Nobody wanted jvg gone than the majority of clutchfans So these suckers are missing him now?
Oh I know - they were all hoping to get rid of him. More than a majority. I was one of the few who liked JVG. Problem was never his offense (this team just didn't have the players around Tmac and Yao to have a pretty offense). I think the first year RA came in and the team had the exact same offensive rating. Both JVG and RA were great coaches. It's a shame we didn't stick with either one of them.
I wanted him gone, I think the team had moved on from him, I would welcome him back now. Different teams, different times - he is a great coach, but every coach has a window then needs to move on, IMO. DD
