So is Cousins, I believe.

Yeah, but that's different from what Hayesfan was saying, which has to do with their type of play. Although I do want to say that Hayes and Battier may play the way their coach tells them, the main point is that they do it well. I honestly believed Francis, for example, wanted to play the right way, but he was just incapable of doing so for various reasons. Hayes and Battier are both extremely disciplined players.

Patterson? I don't know about. What I wish to know is how well he can learn, even more so that he listens to the coach. It's not as if Callipari does a lot of X's and O's anyway. Patterson probably didn't have to do nearly as much thinking in kentucky as he will in the NBA.

Have people still not figured out what Morey is after? PRODUCTION.

It doesn't matter if you are short: Brooks, Landry.

It doesn't matter if you only excel in defense: Battier, Hayes.

It doesn't matter if you only excel in offense: Martin.

It doesn't matter if you have an attitude: Artest.

Daryl Morey does not measure players with conventional biases. All he cares about is if the player produces, and if this production contribute to wins.

Looking at production alone, Cousins should probably be the #1 pick.
After seeing his latest picture, I found the perfect comparison for Cousins.

Greg Oden 2.0
More rebounding
More scoring
More fat
More injuries

Greg Oden blew up from 250 lbs to 280-290 lbs by December of his rookie season.

Cousins hates weightlifting and conditioning. That's not good for a guy with weight issues. He might get by in the NCAA. In a faster and more physical league, his body will break down. He's not going to last 82 games. He'll get some kind of freak knee, foot, or ankle injury before the All-Star break.

Remember Mike Sweetney? He was an absolute terror in college. He was almost a 20/10 player in his freshman year. He was an extremely productive player in college. None of it mattered, when he started getting lazy with his diet and careless with his conditioning.

If Cousins is injured due to being overweight, there is zero production. He'll be more effective than Oden, while playing. He will miss more games than Oden. He's not playing 38 games against boys anymore.

Being cheap makes him worth more in trade. As for matching salaries, you trade him with somebody else, or you trade him for another young, cheap player, maybe at a position that you need more.
