So many times you see the "*****" on the screen, it used to be uncool to curse, it seems now that so many posters are just taking advantage and cursing...

    My kids read this forum....

When did it become ok to curse here?

Can we all act a bit more like adults?

Coffee, lack of sleep, and some serious multitasking.

But, honestly, I think it is really low class, and it used to be not allowed, IIRC.

Maybe every time the editor catches a curse word it subtracts from your rep?

Nope, that is why I put the " " in there......seriously bobrek, people are complaining about the decline of the GARM etc, and it begins with how people talk to each other in posts.

And cursing used to not be allowed, now all of the sudden it is implied in thread titles, people are tossing F bombs and other curse words in regular posts.

Honestly, it is a fairly recent thing, within the last year......the mods should set a standard and have consequences for people that curse....

It is not necessary, and it is one of the reasons this board is so classy....people can disagree without resorting to name calling and cursing.

You have to nip it in the bud...

And you have pages and pages of posts where you quote folks who used the word "d**n". Why didn't you blank those out or get upset then? Are there certain curse words you feel should be allowed?

Granted folks shouldn't curse, but when the "*" show up, it's not that bad. The ones that get around it by using spaces or other means to get around the censor are the ones that should be chastised.

You indicated you let your kids read this forum. There are much worse things posted than seeing ****** show up.

It should be like an auto 1 day ban, you actually have to THINK to type that word.....

I like how chat is run....(Well most of it...except for the lack of chatting being allowed, but that is a different thread)......and think it should be consistent.

The asterisks are a way of keeping a little of the cursing out, but if there was a way to more negatively affect the poster, it would be more effective.

Seriously, it has happened more and more in the last year....it used to be not allowed, IIRC.

Should posters be banned for quoting posts that contain a typed curse word (e.g. d%$&)?

Nah, the person that was the original offender should be punished, and others should just edit those out if possible.....

FYI - I just edited one in the TMac pictures area...and try to edit where I can.

Yes it should....pushing the "Troll" envelope as usual I see.

If you search for your name as the poster and for "D&^%" as the keyword, you will find pages and pages of times you did not edit it out. What was different between then and now?

Oh come on Bobrek, pages of QUOTED text does not equal typing it in yourself....and you know it.

And if you are searching for my name and the word, does not mean I QUOTED it, it just means in that thread was my name, and the word...not necessarily in the same post.

    SHEESH !

I don't think so, and I have been booted for cursing in chat....and felt it was well deserved......

Chat is more active, and if it can be policed, so can the BBS where people have more time to think.

I think it is not necessary and another example of the degradation of quality of posts.
