If you came here just looking for someone to kiss each other and hug together, I am sorry you felt offended.

Other than that, like others said, you probably did not even watch any games the last 2 seasons or you had a very bad internet service provider.

Its not that difficult to find all kind of facts out there to suggest that :

    - his coaches, his teammates and the local and national writers all kind of believed he is not a good player anymore.

So, just because someone on the internet does not like to kiss each other's behind, it doesn't mean that whatever your imagination will become facts.

LOL, I wasn't offended, but there's no point in debating this.

I've watched countless games season after season, so don't try to up yourself as more knowledgeable.

You talk about facts, but you just posted a bunch of articles. That doesn't mean that DWill is terrible. It suggests he had some rough years. Him being waived doesn't mean that he was a scrub, even if Joe wanted him out.

My imagination? LOL...I work in basketball. Am I predicting good things for Deron? Most definitely, and we'll revisit this.

I don't need your approval, and I said good riddance because there's no point debating it any further. You can post all of the editorials you want. It doesn't change a collective belief among many that DWill can still play at a high level.

You can't offend me. I breathe basketball and it's not like I said Hasheem Thabeet is going to make an amazing come back.

Josh Smith was called a washed up player in his later years in ATL and in Detroit. Is that accurate? I don't think so. His new digs in Houston proved that he could still play at a high level, even when he wasn't a focal point.

Anyway, I'll continue to watch NBA ball/Rockets while I coach, and if I'm wrong about DWill, I'll be the first to admit it.

What I do know is that so many teams wouldn't have been after him and trying to maneuver his contract if he were on Jeremy Lin's level. That's the truth.

So, again, choose what you want to believe, read all of the articles, but I'll stand by what I wrote.

DWill is going to have a good year with Dirk and company.

    Good talk.

Mavs won't be terrible, but they are a fringe playoff team as constructed. Will be fighting with Phoenix and Utah for that last spot or two.

i'll confess my ignorance and request that somebody fill me in on Wes Matthews' ability to create offense. I was under the impression he was just your average 3&D guy. I know they posted him up against Harden a few times in the playoffs, but I thought that was more to tire out Harden than a belief in Matthews' abilities. I'm kinda curious, b/c I live in Dallas and have not minded being vocal around here about how lame that contract is. Don't want big surprises my way. haha

He has a solid stepback. He's a cut above your average 3&D guy.

The problem is the achilles tear. If you look at how guys perform after that injury, that contract is definitely lame.

My take is Deron isn't going to have a significant improvement this year.

Josh Smith's case was different because Detroit had a totally incompatible frontline of Drummond, Monroe and Josh Smith coupled with perimeter guys that aren't good shooters. There was no spacing in the system.

Josh Snith on the Rockets was used to his strengths. He wasn't asked to create too much. Took only set 3s, a lot less long 2s and made inside plays. A change of team scenarios did wonders for him, and he'll continue to get that on the Clippers with a great PG setting up, and shooters all around plus a great defensive center that will allow him to roam around trying to block shots and let him lob the ball up for dunks.

But for Deron Williams, he's a PG and he's got the ball in his hands a lot to create plays and take shots. He wasn't asked to play in any system that doesn't showcase a PG's skills. Yet he hasn't played well in I don't know 3-4 years. Even after he recovered from injury.

He should have been higher than Lance (who should be better now given that the defensive attention will be on chris and blake), he won't be a good defender anymore, not after an achilles. He'll still be a decent catch and shoot guy but that's all he'll be now.

And Cuban was brilliant enough to UPGRADE his contract, giving him the max when he wasn't even asking for it.

"Wesley Matthews, who the Mavs signed to a max contract last summer, ranks 117th of 118 qualified players in field goal percentage (.388)."

Cuban wanted to be the opposite of Morey and prove that he cares about his players and didn't just view them as assets. Of course, he wasn't counting on Matthews being this terrible.

Matthews is playing exactly like a player coming off a major injury. He shoots fewer shots in the paint, and when he gets there he has become horrendous at finishing (60% FG from 0-3 ft last year; 48% this year). The only thing he does better than last year is shoot long non-3pt jumpers, a shot which defenses are happy to give up.

Asked if he's concerned about the long-term value of Wesley Matthews' contract, Mark Cuban said: "Not at all. We got a lot of interest in him before the deadline, not that we were looking to trade him."
