It's the loss of speed and quickness from this injury a lot of players can't get back.

Though speed will be an issue coming off of his injury

The parson contract looks like a good deal compared to Wes Mathews contract.

With the $$ Cuban is paying him, he can easily afford rings for the entire Mavs team from Tiffany and Co. in Dallas Galleria.

Why yes! Yes, you can, Wes!

Mavs fans have been acting like Wes Matthews is going to be James Harden. It is hilarious reading their boards (dallasbasketball.com and dallas-mavs.com).

It reminds me of how we were during our mediocrity treadmill. We'd overvalue guys like Brooks, Martin etc. to a Harden like level. Sucks when it's like that for your team, but fun to watch the others do.

Wes felt disrespected when he didn't get an offer from the Blazers:

It was a ghastly number for the Blazers, even though they could technically afford him. Paul Allen is the richest owner in sports, but after a lost era during which he paid more than a combined $100 million to Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, only to see their knee injuries become chronic, Allen was wary of paying top dollar to a player coming off a serious injury.

The only chance the Blazers would pursue Matthews, top executive Neil Olshey later explained, was if free agent LaMarcus Aldridge chose to return, maintaining Portland as a playoff-caliber team. When Aldridge chose San Antonio, the Blazers decided to rebuild. Paying big money to a 29-year-old shooting guard coming off major surgery didn't make long-term sense.

"I was angry," Matthews said, "but I also realize that this is a business."

Paul Allen was wise to let Matthews walk. The Blazers are going about this the right way. They blew up their roster, locked in their star player to a long-term deal, and are in full rebuild mode. Someone should explain to Cuban how it's done.

Why should Cuban listen to someone else when he already KNOWS more than anyone about basketball? After all, just who's the big fish on Shark Tank, you or MC? It's going to be great fun watching them try to make the playoffs with sleepy Sam Dalembert, Dirk (who ain't dead yet...except on defence), DWIII (he's tanned, he's rested, he's back home) and the hospital brigade (Parsons & Matthews).

Dude's making more than double what he's realistically worth, got a max contract coming off a torn Achilles and to top it off he's playing for a team that has more talent. What exactly is there to be "pissed" about?

No we didn't. Morey never tried to act like these players were stars. Rockets fans tend to fall hard for the players on the team, but we aren't stupid. During those dark times, Morey treated everyone on the roster like an asset. We knew no one was safe because no one was a star.

Blazers should have let Lollard walk as well.
