UPDATE: Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Rockets have come to an agreement with guard Carlos Delfino on a one-year deal, with team option on 2nd season, per source.
Original Report: 7/28/2012 Argentinian paper: Rockets have offer out to Carlos Delfino
Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen Delfino averaged 9 ppg last season on 40 fg %, 36 3pt %, about his career averages. Played well when w/ Rockets asst Kelvin Sampson in Mil.
Great signing, now Lamb is not forced to start until ready. Only question now is when and where is Martin going.
Just speculation on my part, but maybe they brought him in as a back-up to Jeremy Lamb, because they're about to move Martin.
Can anybody go into detail about his skill set. I know he is a veteran, good 3 point shooter, defensive minded SG. What else does he bring into the table offensively, I must confess I don't know a ton about him. Can he create for himself, can he handle the ball, his passing ability? Thanks in advance.
If Martin weren't on the team, I think Lamb would sew that SG job up in pre-season, for sure. But Delfino can also play 3, so maybe they start him there?
Why do we need a 29 year old veteran to take minutes from young guys and eat up a bit of our cap space?
Maybe, but you've got a ton of guys who can play the three also ... maybe Marcus Morris isn't ready for minutes and neither is Royce White, but you've still got a lot of hybrid 3/4s. In my opinion the Rockets just aren't in a position to add rotation players without making some moves soon.
