I don't really have a problem with the signing. The rockets need depth at shooting guard and Delphino can provide that. KMart starts JLamb is the rotation player and Delphino is a situational player.
What is this guy's character like ? Is he a huge flooper like the rest of the Argentinians ? I know they kept talking about needing a veteran presence .. Is this the best they can find ?
ITS CALLED LURING ANDREW BYNUM WHEN HE BECOMES A FREE AGENTS lets face it he will not stay with the 76ers Rockets have a chance and a bottom 10 team will not lure him with this is obvious this team has some nice vets in Asik, Lin, Delfino, Martin and Parsons (Sort of) add players like D-Mo, Lamb, Jones, White DONT BE SURPRISED IF ROCKETS MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS Because Playoffs = Bynum possibly
Delfino is strong enough to defend the 3 and long/quick enough to defend the 2. All effort guy, good for a steal or two a game. Decent rebounder. He has good enough ball handling ability to create for himself but is not a very good passer.
He's a tradable contract, doesn't affect our 2013 cap space, and is a wily vet that can help the kiddos. He's really very good offensively.
We already have Gary Forbes to be a "situational player" at that position. We have Marcus Morris and Royce backing up the 3. Delfino is a sign of things to come: win now; be mediocre.
Honestly believe we got him to play back-up SF. He has the size and physicality to defend the position. If he can curb his chucking, he's a very, very solid back-up.
This guy can play. And I'm sure the Rockets promised him at least 20min a game because otherwise he wanted to play in Europe. In the NBA he's the typical defense and 3 kind of guy, but in Fiba basketball he's a scorer off the dribble. 29 year old guard-forward, knows what winning is (he'll love playing for the rockets lol)
As much as I like Scola. Scola is undersized PF who produces in scoring. Defino produces the same offensive while being a SG. That being said, moving Scola and get Defino allows us to move our bigs more freely while Martin/Defino provides a good veteran presence for our young roster. IMO, this move is a better fit for Rockets moving forward.
He played well in the Olympics againist USA lets see what he does in Houston, its not like we are contending this year anyway
You just listed Gary Forbes and Marcus Morris as viable back-up options. And who knows if Royce can play 3. Delfino is FAR from a win now maneuver. It's a one year, cheap contract. Slow your troll, homie.
lol I'm not thinking right. I was thinking Martin would be traded at the deadline and Delfino would be Dalembert'd at some point, and then I posted that genius sentence.
