Wow talking about r****dation. Was expecting them to do something new with the alternative Star Trek Universe but they decided to do a remake or recreate a different version of Wrath of Khan? Wow, they must be running out of ideas.

Where could they take the character? At this point in the timeline he should still be aboard the Botany Bay after 300 years of suspended animation...with no idea who James T. Kirk is. I'm skeptical they can make this work.

Well since the introduction of Nero in the first movie screwed up the timeline, they can pretty much McGuffin it away however they want. Maybe Kirk takes the Enterprise out of the way to investigate an anomalous signal and finds the Botany Bay early. They thaw out Khan to see what happened and BANG he tries to take over the ship or something.
Why the hell would they do Khan again? Didn't the first movie have a bit of Wrath of Khan in it even with Nero interrogating Khan like style with that insect.
This is interesting. They can take the Khan mythos from jump and make him a recurring bad guy. You guys forget that the new ST movies don't parallel the original movies- they are along the same timeline as the series, but in an alternate dimension. Khan showed up in the original series, so that's what we would be seeing here. They can expand on his original appearance.
Some pics, a few ambiguous spoilers: Spoiler Link Courtesy of MTV, we have our first look at STAR TREK 2's set photos. Now, without any context, I have no idea of the significance of these pictures, but from the looks of it, Benedict Cumberbatch isn't well-liked by our favorite starship crew (or at least Spock and Uhura). According to the article, Cumberbatch's character is able to overcome Spock's (Zachary Quinto) classic over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder maneuver, and he's supposedly wearing a Starfleet uniform under the jacket. Now we have Uhura (Zoe Saldana) drawing down on Cumberbatch, and it looks like they're on the deck of some spaceship. It's difficult to tell. Again, we could be looking at the climax of the movie, or the opening act, so who knows. http://s3.amazonaws.com/coolproduct...ctures/5732/original/benedict2.jpg?1330107021 Does this whet your appetite? I hope the movie rocks, myself.
The order of events will not be the same in the new time line as the old. That was the whole point of the re-boot, so old characters could be revisited with completely altered or new stories. There is no more Vulcan in this time line, what other differences are there and how have the events of the first movie affected everything else?
Actually it makes perfect since. This movie could be a re-imagining of an early Star Trek Episode. Khan was introduced in the (I believe) second episode of the original series entitled "Space Seed". He reappeared for the 2nd movie twenty years later (in both occasions played by Montalban). It makes sense that Kirk would square off with him early in the franchise..and maroon him and his crew aboard the Botany Bay on Seti Alpha 5 (sp) at the end of the movie to set up the later "Wrath of Kahn" twenty years later.
Well I totally enjoy the first one and this one look promising. Next year should be and hopefully be a memorable year Sci-fi fans. Saw it earlier, I'll have to wait to see what the story looks like. I enjoyed the first one but it was missing that Trek feel, most like a sci-fi action flick in the Trek world. This trailer looks like it'll be similar and of course I'll see it.
I thought this review was spot on <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FRNHpX5_Ek8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
