Went to Cinemark 18 and watched it in XD 3D. Really good, and actually 3D. Star Trek 2 > Disconnect > Iron Man 3
So did I, and really enjoyed it. I could nit-pick some things here and there, but it was great entertainment. The best things about the flick, IMO, were the cast (they nail the characters) and Benedict Cumberbatch. Good lord... Cumberbatch ate up the screen and spit it out!
Watched an 11:15 today. Very enjoyable. I don't get to see movies in the theatre that often. It was actually my first 3D movie to see.
I strongly implore everyone to see it in real IMAX (Edwards I-10). Stay away from all 3D versions. If you can't make it to a proper IMAX screen then save your money and watch on a regular screen.
Really good movie. Really not a huge Trek fan, but these movies do the series justice and really draw in new fans. Which, in turn go back and watch all the old stuff. A well timed Tribble appearance. 9/10
He's really showing the extent of his acting chops here. It's amazing how a good actor can inhabit such different roles and be so convincing. Cumberbatch is a terrific Sherlock Holmes who's been placed in the modern era. This role as "the one who must not be named without a spoiler" was a pretty stunning departure from that. Quinto and Pine both have great screen presence, yet when Cumberbatch is sharing it with either one, or both, it's almost impossible to look away from the guy. -
Im gonna see it this sun at Marquee IMAX 3D.. Ive heard good things on RT, makes it look very promising.
Daughter #1 just discovered the Sherlock series and is uncharacteristically but completely fan-girling over Cumberbatch. Her gang is going to see the movie on Saturday and already has plans for The Hobbitt and whatever else he has coming out in the 18 months.
Hold on gais, I haven't seen it yet... can we wait a bit till I've seen it? I want to be part of the discussion.
