January 10, 2011 Glendale, AZ - University of Phoenix Stadium ESPN Hope for a great game. The eventual Heisman winner, Cam Newton vs. the runner up LaMichael James.
In the end, all the talk about non-AQ schools getting in didn't matter- these schools did what they needed to do and controversy has been avoided (for the most part)
Although Oregon is a great football team, Cam Newton is just too good at what he does to let Auburn lose. I'm calling Auburn, 31-17.
Unless of course more evidence comes forth in the Cam Newton case and Auburn is forced to forfeit its season after the fact. Then another team would've been screwed out of a title shot.
Sounds about right. I don't get the cockiness for Auburn.. yeah Cam Newtown's great.. but he doesn't play defense. And last I checked, the Ducks have a pretty damn good offense.
Neither team plays great defense... Oregon's offense is more powerful IMO than Auburn's. Both teams have a star. That's why I'm expecting a great game... possibly a shoot out.
I'm kind of thinking the same thing. Both teams seem to get off to slow starts and explode in the second half with the defense pitching a shut out after the first half. I'm really indifferent to either team winning but I really want Oregon to win so I can stick it to a friend who says Oregon is a pansy team with a gimmick offense that can't compete against the SEC. Gut feeling tells me Auburn will win though.
Las Vegas Hilton sports book started with Oregon by 3 over Auburn in BCS title game. Line already down to Oregon by 1 point.
I was going to give Oregon the edge, but after watching Auburn pound (the other) USC, I've changed my mind. IMO, the key factor is how accurate Darron Thomas throws the ball. When he's in a zone, Oregon's offense goes to another level and they are unbeatable. But the last 3 games or so he hasn't impressed much. Auburn has the kind of D-line that can slow Oregon's dominant rushing attack and Thomas may be forced to do more than he is capable of.
I was more afraid of USC in this game than Oregon (if there was a championship game) because I knew USC could beat Auburn from their meeting earlier in the season. But yeah, obviously all that is now history. I feel it, this is the year. It's destiny. Go Auburn War Eagle!!
Booked my flight to Arizona today! War Eagle. To the posters who think Oregon's Offense is better, the competition isn't even comparable. Defensive Ranks of Auburn Opponents Bama=7 LSU=9 Clemson-22 UGA=30 South Car.=33 (2x) Arkansas=36 Kentucky=50 Miss St=53 Miss=81 Defensive Ranks of Oregon Opponents New Mexico=119 UT=70 ASU=56 Stanford=24 Wash St=115 UCLA=93 USC=86 Wash=85 Cal=19 Arizona=35 Oregon St=84
Auburn will slow down Oregon on defense, and go buck wild on offense. Auburn wins 45-28. I hate these ridiculous waits, can you really tell anything when teams wait a month between games.
