Comparing Jones' 2013-14 season (when he was the starter) to Motiejunas' 2014-15 season (when he was the starter):

    VORP:

    D-Mo: 1.0
    Jones: 2.2

    Box Plus/Minus:

    D-Mo: -0.1
    Jones: 2.2

    Win Shares:

    D-Mo: 4.7
    Jones: 7.3

    PER:

    D-Mo: 14.4
    Jones: 19.1

    Does anyone have an explanation?

    TS%, turnovers, rebounds and blocks.

Points per possession on post ups is also an advanced stat tho. DMo is ahead there.

Probably because his conventional stats were better too?

Jones is so much better than a lot of posters here give him credit for. It's really remarkable; certain people on this BBS get raging prospect boners for young, unproven, high-upside talent on OTHER teams, but disparage a guy who has yet to turn 24 and is a better player than, say, David West was at the same age.

i just looked he has to play another 32 games next year to have played 164 games.

jones and dmo can make an extremely good rotation next year at PF, hopefully they can stay healthy and the rockets can get 48 minutes of above average combined play from that position.

if they do and ariza/brewer can do the same. then lawson/harden/howard better do what they are supposed to with that type of help.

beverley/brewer/dmo/capela with lawson's staggered minutes should be able to wreck a lot of other team's second units.

Exactly. I liked what I saw from D-Mo last year, but TJ has shown us a lot more on a consistent basis and our 4 spot is fine as it is.

    1. T-Jones was indisputably a better PF until arguably this last season, though a large part of that has to do with T-Jones being injured basically the entire season

    2. T-Jones's continued piss poor performance in the playoffs against the elite bigs of the West blind fans (especially those boning for D-Mo) on the fact that he is pretty solid considering his age and experience

    3. D-Mo had a break out season before going down with back injury and his ability to create his own show and pass in the post has charmed a lot of fans and caused a lot of bias. This is made worse considering that T-Jones was mostly hurt and then had another bad performance in the playoffs.

Keep in mind that these are for offense

There aren't really any good defensive advanced stats but I think DMo is more solid defensively

2 & 3 big time. My concerns for Jones are DEFENSE and his ugly a$$, ineffective jump shot.

I don't get it either I don't know how ppl on her forget that he was putting up 30 pt games as a rookie. Anyone that saw him play before the lung injury knows how talented Jones is. Dude is Hakeem's pet project so he's only going to get better. I just don't understand why people want to trade him so much especially in the name of D mo. For anyone paying attention D mo is a center Jones is a power forward. Both positions have different skill sets, D mo and Jones can be on the floor at the same time. Where does the dislike for Jones come from

He shot 35% percent from the perimeter last season so it was in fact, effective.

If Jones can stay healthy this upcoming season unlike his injury riddled season in 14-15 and with the addition of Ty Lawson he could really explode.

:D :D Jones was in one game and out the other. Then he was out every playoffs. Jones hasn't been consistent. Ever. Jones is bad. End of discussion.

One explanation is Dmo improved more than TJ did last season. TJ is always better IMO.

Pretty much anything that requires more than basic arithmetic to calculate is considered 'advanced'.

Please don't reply to the troll that compared Hakeem's shot selection to Kobe's please. Just ignore him and let him die alone under a bridge somewhere.
