?

Do you think Josh Smith could fit with the Rockets and fill our defensive void?

    I want Iggy!

    Trade proposal:

    * Houston:
    - outgoing: Ariza, Taylor, Hill, Jeffries, trade exception of Landry
    - incoming: Iggy, Smith, Green, trade exception of Dalembert

    * Philly:
    - outgoing: Iggy, Smith, Green, trade exception of Dalembert
    - incoming: Ariza, Taylor, Hill, Jeffries, trade exception of Landry

I'd prefer to complete this trade without given up draft picks, but if we have to ONLY Rockets draft picks ... no need for the NY picks!

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=2bt5hrn

    Houston's roster:
    PG: Brooks, Lowry, Ishmael Smith
    SG: Martin, Bud, Green
    SF: Iggy, Battier, Harris
    PF: Scola, Hayes, Patterson
    C: Yao, Miller, Jason Smith

I think DM cuts Alexander Johnson to sign a 3th PG, named Ishmael Smith.
Green is a solid pick up, but isn't going to see much playing time IMO. The same story for Jason Smith, I'm afraid ... BUT we have Iggy!

We will also have some expiring contracts for next summer: Green, Smith, Battier, ... maybe important to re-sign Yao (and Brooks?).

So, in the suspicion of Aaron Brooks will get a huge pay raise, we just go out and trade him for a guy who already got his pay raise?

And same fast pace driving to basket/shoot 3 style with bad defense? but older in Harris?

    I would pass.

Same thing that happened with the tmac trade, how bima explained it. if tmac expired with us we wouldnt be in position to grab FA. same thing if battier and jared and brooks expired. so migh as well trade those expirings for the contract right now instead of not being able to afford Brooks.

Because you just passed if you had the oppertunity, you just lost Brooks and a possible Paul.

Hmmmm. We have Lowry, and Brooks was a second round steal. With Morey we can get another solid shooting point guard out of the draft in the second round. Plus our team is good enough now that we can take Nash for Championships now. For the long run, we can draft someone but for now, Nash gives us a better shot at a title.

Heres an idea. Yao is not sure? Since NO is somewhat re-building, instead of going after Paul, Jeffries + Hill + Bud + cash and picks for Okafor.

    Danillo Gallinari?

Just a thought now seeing how the New York has everyone but Amare on the trading block.

How much would we have to give up to get him? I think he could be a good fit for RA's system and still young and full of more upside. I am sure that he is NY highest valued player, but just a thought.

Houston Sends: Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries, David Andersen
Houston Receives: Emeka Okafor, Orlando 1st Rounder

Orlando Sends: Jameer Nelson, Marcin Gortat, 1st Rounder
    Orlando Receives: Chris Paul

New Orleans Sends: Chris Paul, Emeka Okafor
New Orleans Receives: Jameer Nelson, Marcin Gortat, Jordan Hill as well as the contracts of Jeffries and Andersen

Why Houston should do this? We prevent CP3 from ending up in NYK and ensure those Knicks picks stay in the lottery instead of dropping to the mid 20s (especially since Carmelo will likely push to go to NYK if Paul and Amare are there).

We do this trade its as if:

TMac and Carl Landry for Kevin Martin, Emeka Okafor, two lottery picks from NYK and 1st rounder from Orlando Magic. Those lottery picks and 1st rounder from Orlando (in addition to our own first rounder) are solid assets for a third star like Granger, or just to package together to move into the top 3.

    We dont do this trade:

TMac and Carl Landry for Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, two low 20s picks from NYK.

They are just offering everyone other than Amare so that thy can get Paul. No other reason than that. They know if they got Paul, Melo would follow.

    Why New Orleans does this:
New Orleans unloads a bunch of salary without totally deteriorating their talent. Jameer, Marcin, Jordan Hill is acceptable compensation for a CP3 thats demanding to be traded. They also rid themselves of Okafor's contract.

    Why Orlando does this:
Orlando makes an upgrade over Jameer Nelson by getting the best pg in the game in CP3. While they give up a 1st rounder and their backup C, theyre pretty much a lock to get Melo when VC's contract expires and well positioned to contend with their cross-state rivals the Miami Heat. CP3-Melo-Howard vs. DWade-Bron-Bosh.

Meanwhile, I've already explained why Houston would want to do it. CP3 and Melo arent coming to Houston, not if they can help it. Granger, on the other hand, is a realistic target.

No, it's entirely not the same with Tmac situation. Tmac is a player with huge expiring contract that Houston will not resign. So if we wait for Tmac's contract to go out we end up with nothing.

But Aaron Brooks is player Houston can use, the only thing that will stop Rockets to resign him after his contract expires is if he demands too much money. And your solution to that is to trade for a player already on 9mil contract with the exactly same play style.

All you did is to fast forward Rockets' payroll for 2 years in Harris. May as well just pay Brooks the money.

    Trade for Paul and Granger

    Houston recieves:

    PG - Chris Paul

    PF/C - Okafor

    Hornets recieves:

    SG/SF - Battier

    SF/PF - Jefferies

    PG - Brooks

    PF - Scola

1 or both Knicks' picks Rockets recieved.

    Rockets recieve:

    SF - Danny Granger

    C - Jeff Foster

    SG - Jones

    Pacers recieve:

    PG - Lowry

    SG/SF - Ariza

    SG - Martin

    PF - Patterson

Rockets try to bring back Battier if they release him and we are able to. And call me crazy but resign Steve Novak.

    Starters:

    PF - Okafor (36mpg)

    SF - Granger (38mpg)

    C - Yao (32mpg)

    SG - Battier (32mpg)

    PG - Paul (38mpg)

    Bench:

    PG - Quinn (10mpg)

    SG/SF - Budinger (26mpg)

    SF/PF - Novak (12mpg)

    C - Miller (16mpg)

We have our own big 3, and I know these are huge changes, but they make us a top 5 team in the entire NBA.

You traded away Battier and started him on the Rockets.......interesting, I didn't know Morey could clone people, very nicely done.

    use this:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=190437

and this trade sucks...we dont need to acquire two all-stars, we're fine with just one. By trading for two you wiped out all our depth at every position except center, you downgraded the SG spot tremendously and possibly downgraded the PF spot as well. The only thing gained is a an improvement at PG and SF, and i'm not sure that's enough to overcome all the negatives of this, especially when CP for brooks is a significant upgrade, but not a huge one.

One injury to a star and we're in the mid-lottery, last year we barely made the cut for the late lottery.
