1. Because for next year, Nash is still the better player. His PER last year was still 21.6, 5 points higher than Brooks ever accomplished. You DO know he's a career 43% shooter from 3 right? Their defense is a wash, as in they don't play it. 2. Brooks might be making a lot less, but he's due for a huge pay raise in 2011, one I think we're not willing to give to him. Brooks in '11 for 9M doesn't compare favorably to Nash in '11 for 11M. 3. Phoenix can tell itself what you are arguing, that it would like to have a speedy PG still on the upswing of his career with many good years left, to replace Nash and start a new era of winning basketball in their town. But only stat geeks like you and me know that Brooks ain't as good as his total stats make him out to be (only 5.4 assists/36minutes last year? oof, Nash was at 12.0).
This is true, but I think this problem can be easily solved. Aaron's quickness could easily become an advantage on the offensive side with bigger players guarding him, while on defense he can just guard the smaller of the two opposing guards.
if this works...i like this, Charlie V. has an offensive game when they front and double yao in the post.
I hope people realize this when they put trades up hoping to keep Aaron. If we wanna keep AB, we're gonna have to give someone up, wirth some cha ching!
Houston trade: Hill, Ariza, JJ, picks. Indiana trade: Granger, D. Jones, S.Jones. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Bud/Taylor Granger/Battier/Bud Scola/Pat Yao/Brad realistic?
If NJ Nets wanted Scola, why wouldnt they want Okafer? Taking him almost gurantees them Paul, no? What D Harris in the way? Solution, we take Harris? Lets face it, AB is gonna COMMAND a big raise. NJN doesnt have many assets to trade with to make it worth but thats where we come in. Something like Paul and Okafer to NJN. And then Harris to Houston. And finally a bunch of contracts which would almost have to include Brooks (a few more from us to make the salaries work, which I included Jared or Battier and Andersen) and Humphries/Williams (from the Nets so they can keep Lopez). The assets can be mixed up'd from us but almost has to be Humphries and Williams if they want to try to keep Lopez. Why? NOH: They save an instant 10mil plus all expirings (with 1 or 2 starter caliber depending on the assets). Would probally get our pick(s) too. NJN: A lot of ya think Okafer is overpaid. Maybe but not by too much. He is a defensive beast. They move Okafer to the starting 4, letting Favors learn from a defensive PF/C. They take on a lot of money though, which might deviate this ideal. Is JayZ and Russian dude willing to pay?!!? Rockets: Lets face it, Brooks will be getting a huge pay raise. They both have thier advantages but in the long run I think Harris has the edge. All in all I think it really matter on which assets/picks we have to give up.
u gotta love that white butter I say hill + jefferies + ariza + 2012 for granger brooks/lowry Martin/bud/Taylor granger/battier scola/pat Yao/miller that's a solid starting 5 and a very solid second unit IMO plus the pacers will get a slight downgrade in ariza but will acquire a vet in jj and young, promising talent in hill. we'll get Danny granger.... nuff said. or we could trade for cp3 but that would deffinitly involve dishing out AB to the hornets. I know Paul has proven to be one of the best PGs in the league.. but I think granger and AB is a better combo than cp3 and whoever.. in the end I would be content with either of these players or even sticking with our current roster.. If ariza can step his game up this year we won't need a Danny granger AND AB is getting better. he's younger than cp3 and who knows how good he could turn out.. he fits in well with the adelman offense and he and Lowry are pretty lethal when they're on fire.. just putting this stuff out there. who knows what our GM DM will do. (I.e. melo?????) it's all just speculation at this point
CP3 and Bud will be pretty good if Bud stays otherwise even JT will be better CP3 with Kev Mart is as deadly as it gets...probably
I admit that by obtaining Granger's services and not giving up much we would do better. I would be happy. However Having to consider the bigger picture, getting CP3 as The YY mentioned would attract more free agents - give us a pretty good and rare chance at Melo the Scorer - Do not underestimate the friendship of the Redeem Team It is not entirely about getting the player CP is - With all the offensive talents out there, I agree with those that say with the defensive prowess of a GWallace and a 34 old Mutombo instead of Miller we would be easily sticking it to the Fake Show
you make a really good point about the future FAs but have you ever considered letting AB develop? trading for Paul will most certainly include Brooks.. he still has room to grow while cp3 is currently in his prime and more injury prone than Brooks. in the future Brooks could be all star caliber.. I think granger + Yao + AB + Martin could attract melo.. but then again cp3 could head to ny to join forces with stat and the big apple could be Melos new home.. you never know........
If you want to win a ship you better get a grip and nab some defensive talents because our team is stacked with good offensive players. Last time I checked Chris Paul is younger than Aaron by half a year. He's got more experience and mileage though...and more injuries I confess. In our system Paul is not asked to do near as much as in New Orleans. We simply have more weapons and Kyle who can spell him more than some minutes. I believe our coaches can talk some sense into his HEAD and play him accordingly. ----ie limit his minutes Granger and Kev Mart are redundant when Melo is here... Then we would go after defensive specialists... Bell, Barnes....younger Ratliff..... well, wonder wonder, they are the Fakers' targets
