I am so surprised that you are the only one who brought this up. The only thing that counts around here are how you score points. Marcus showed he can defend their guards without needing any help. There were a couple sequences where he switched and had to guard smaller players and shut them down. 3 blocks is not too shabby either.

Except Morris is making winning plays, whether it's defense, scoring, rebounding, etc.. He's been able to do thing within the offense and flow of the game.

I'm pretty sure he's been told to provide scoring off the bench, so he's not going out there to create or pass up shots. If he played inside more he'd get to the line enough, but he doesn't. Pat is the one with FT issues. Second to last on the team, even Delfino beats him.

I thought it was pretty hilarious to see Morris's rebound when he got knocked down on the floor.

Agree completely. These 3 would be my starting frontcourt at the moment (rotate Parsons in depending on matchups and how he is playing).

I too have been extremely impressed by Mo. He has a bright future.

Yeah I can't remember if he was defending Vasquez or Rivers but I know exactly what you're talking about. I was pretty damn impressed. Showing he's not as stiff as I thought. Looking like a versatile 3/4 instead of a tweener 3/4 without a real position.

On an unrelated note...I like bongs.

I would put Gay around Top 36 or better in the league. Not too shabby with more D.

For those that look at the games close enough, Morris was actually hustling and getting into great position even from game 1. Just he dropped a couple of passes and couldn't buy a shot initially.

When you play hard, hustle, get to the right places enough, and are talented to begin with, you'll eventually do pretty well.

What's really telling was that he said in the postgame interview, that the Rockets is a defensive team, and he saw how Parsons was able to start as a rookie by bringing defense, and he spent the summer working and watching tape.

He's now making intelligent plays, and combined with his Philly toughness and a good shot, he can really help the Rockets. And I'm still waiting for him to get the ball in the mid-post and go to work on smaller/weaker SFs.

Despite coming off the bench and playing considerably fewer minutes than Patterson, Morris is averaging over 9 points and 4 rebounds while pat is averaging 10 and 5. I know there are defensive things that pat is better at that won't show up on a box score but do they really justify not starting Morris? He's clearly earned that chance. Pat's game has always been perfect for a defensive specialist coming off the bench so why not call a spade a spade. If Morris is going to develop into a consistent offensive threat he needs to get minutes. I think Patterson has calue

    *value

But I don't think he's going to become much more than what he is. Morris needs room to grow.

Mook had another good game scoring the ball last night, he even hit a 3 to send us into overtime (although he did miss the shot to send us into double OT). He played 30 mins last night! Seems like he is out to prove people wrong this season (which he has been doing very well so far). Thoughts on if he is going to crack the starting 5?

I hope not, the coaching staff doesn't really play a deep bench and he is the only scorer that has been fairly consistent.

So you would like to keep him as our 6th man?

Yeah, I guess that kind of came off as a bit sarcastic in nature. But I actually meant it as a compliment to Morris. Rudy Gay gets a lot of flak because of his salary and constant complainers about the Battier trade. But if a 14th pick turn out like him, that's pretty good.

Of course, if Morris can keep up anywhere near his currently ridiculous shooting(.59TS%), then I just might have to bump him up to Melo-lite. :)

Umm.. He's getting a lot of room to grow. Morris has the 2nd highest shot attempts per minute on the team, right behind Harden. Also our 2nd best scorer on a per minute basis. His per-36minute scoring is 17.8. That's pretty damn high for a new player.

The Rockets staff are letting him loose. And they're certainly adding minutes as the season goes on.

I was whining like a b!tch when he played infront of T-Jones. Its been awesome to see him step up like this. Totally unexpected. I hope he can crash the boards too. We need someone who can rebound coming off the bench.
