SHINER, Texas — A father beat a man to death after catching him molesting his 4-year-old daughter, according to the Victoria Advocate.

Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon told the Advocate that in the process of stopping the man from molesting his daughter, the father struck the man in the head several times, killing him.

The case remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, nor arrests made by Sunday afternoon.

Sucks that he'll go to jail over this. Hopefully it's not for too long.

Not if the jury is a majority of parents.

On the surface it sounds like that the man would be protected under Texas self-defense laws which do allow deadly force to protect someone else but I would need to know more about this situation to say for sure.

This man should go to jail. He doesn't know for sure what was happening. He should have asked his daughter first. You can't have this sort of vigilantism in the world. There's not a place for this type of violence.

as a parent, hard to fault the man.

I cannot imagine what would go through my mind if I witnessed such a thing.

Molester goes to hell, where he belongs.

Father hopefully does not go to jail, or, if he does, minimum-security for, like, a week. Where he gets pizza, cake, and ice cream every day from "attaboy" well-wishers.

    Try that on a man's daughter? Bye-bye.

Well if the story is what it appears to be no jury is going to convict him unless it is a bunch of pedophiles. You think a judge or a prosecutor who has any higher aspirations or who wants to keep his job will want to touch this case?

I'm confused too, who's the "he" in "his daughter"?

I say plea bargain it down to a charge and subsequent sentence that is manageable. Have him go to jail and serve a short time as a symbolic act of admitting guilt but let him off easy for defending his daughter. He's suffered enough already.

The problem is he has to prove the other guy was molesting his daughter. Otherwise I can just kill anyone and claim they were molesting my kid.
