At the end, we can add up the votes and list which game CF ranked as the 2009 GOTY (as well as other games that were highly praised). Of course, I'm sure few, if any, of us have actually played every GOTY-worthy game, but that shouldn't dissuade anyone from voting IMO (if you'd like to, you can list some games you didn't get to that you feel you might have really enjoyed).
I think it will be COD MW2 But it should be Uncharted 2, or Dragon Age.... Uncharted 2 has the highest rated meta critic rating of all time I think. DD
Close, but not quite I think. GTA and a few other games are higher. Though if you average together critic and user scores, that might be the case. Seemed to be a large backlash against GTA IV...maybe deserving, although I haven't played it yet (but thanks to Steam, I might in the near-future). It just occurred to me that I can't think of a 3rd 2009 game that I think should be in the top 10 (I did play something like NBA 2K10, but no way would I give it any points with how buggy it was). Guess I played mostly older games this year. Bought some 2009 games, but just haven't gotten around to them yet (e.g., Dragon's Age, which I'm going to play once I have a better PC). Probably just forgetting something...
well my favorite game is TF2 and i play that more than any game... but for games released this year that i have played 1. L4d2 2. Borderlands game that will win cod4:mw2... overrated but most popular. uncharted 2 i havent played but heard its awesome... it wont win because it's ps3 exclusive.

Oh yeah, forgot SMT Devil Summoner 2 came out earlier this year. Was a bit of a disappointment in some ways IMO, but I still largely enjoyed it. Guess that makes 3. 1. Demon's Souls 2. Uncharted 2 10. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon (guess I might edit this if I forgot something, although I think #1 and #2 can be set in stone). Never got around to playing Dragon's Age, Torchlight, Armored Princess, Ratchet & Clank, Killzone 2, Infamous...wow...this just makes me sad. Will try to get to most/all of those next year though. Maybe we need to throw in LTTP awards for great games we played that were released the previous year.
I think any official GOTY anywhere will have a hard choice between: COD MW2- almost a shooting masterpiece- expected, the highly anticipated wait and more; and Demon's Souls- unexpected surprise uppercut out of nowhere (I learned of this game from clutchfans), so different, unique- darkhorse-goty already for gamespot
I wish I had played AC2...i wont be able to start it until after the new year. As far as games I played this year... 1. Uncharted 2 2. Demon's Souls 3. Modern Warfare 2 4. Forza 3 5. Madden 10 6. FIFA 10 7. UFC Undisputed 8. Halo Wars
Too much rehash and sequels this year. Solid games sure. Demon's Souls should be GOTY like Gamespot voted. One of the few games this year that was actually interesting.
You know what I am glad some others said it too, for me it is FIFA 10...it gets the biggest work out of all my games because every weekend when we're drinking it comes out for some 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 against each other and is great fun, I also logged a lot of single player early on. Also loved MW2 although have not got as much online play with that as I would of liked.
