Sorry, these are problems that have plagued this team the whole season

In the playoffs especially with teams that are not that far apart, its coaching that makes the difference.

Any coach worth a damn can get at least ONE of the first two home games based on adjustments

But McHale is not a good coach

When the Rockets get swept, I doubt you will be back on this board defending this guy

    Interesting fact:
In game 2, LMA (in-the-zone, dominating LMA) played only 36 minutes.
    Harden, 44 minutes.

Harden played frantic and made bad decisions in the 4th Q. It was hard to watch at times. You know what, he didn't sit at all in the second half. He played 24 of the 24 minutes.

LMA? He sat in the 4th Q from 12:00 to 6:31.
(And, yeah, Portland had the lead, but it was only a 6 point lead when LMA sat.)

    Coaching matters.

Simmons described why the Pacers might be breaking down. I feel this reason also might be why the Rockets don't have a true team identity where everyone is on the same page.

You don't think the games have been close enough to go either way? Or your own qualifier is really not important because you just want him gone?

Maybe McHale could make different decisions and maybe it would work and maybe no, and maybe the refereeing has been atrocious at times (across the boards for both teams, but make no mistake, we've lost both games by a slim margin of execution errors on the floor.

I guarantee we will not get swept, and if we don't, I doubt you'll credit McHale.

I agree. But you know how you break that? JVG. You make their butts work harder than before in practice. You want it, you have to prove it. This coaches still aren't exempt from this.

It's not just about practice *cue Iverson quote here* - but the coach has to instill strong discipline into the team and let them play to their strengths. A well oiled machine.

If you look at the really great teams, Spurs, Heat, Thunder - they all have players that know their role well.

I've always thought of a team like a well managed company. You all have a job to do, but everyone has their strength's and weaknesses. In order to deliver or finish that project or hit that sales target - you gotta be able to be placed in a position for the 'team' to succeed. but **** happens sometimes - maybe a deadline is moved up, or there's some mess up and people have to react and step up to fix, which is needed.

Dude, don't take my post as defending him. All I'm saying is people are blaming McHale, people are blaming Harden, some people are blaming Howard, etc, when really, you could place blame just about anywhere, and turning any of those things around would have changed the outcome.

I just didn't want people focusing on what I think of McHale, Harden, etc. My opinions of him are better left for another post!

In your rush to label me you seemed to miss the point of the post completely.

Where in any post during this series have I said McHale was a great coach ?

Where did I ever say he shouldn't be shown the door if this team collapses in a sweep ?

Rudy was vilified in the same way McHale is now being roasted.
The loss of Sampson is a significant loss. Are you too angry to say that ?
Rudy was labeled a players coach who favored certain players. Rudy was called a dumb coach who couldn't do anything but roll the ball out on the floor. And every one of those idiots were dancing in the streets a few weeks later.

So if by some wonderful basketball miracle these guys pull it together and even the series, YOU can come back and get your knee, it fell off when you jerked it too hard.

    Go Rockets !

Since you are such a maven, you do know Rudy never freakin went 0-2 when he had home court in the first round?

McHale is a moron and should be shown the door when the final buzzer sounds as soon as these chumps get swept

    Just fire McHale already.

Then pursue either Stan Van Gundy or George Karl this off-season.

As I figured. No comment, eh. Guess you'll have to root for them to get swept some other series.

Weak excuses my Mchale is true. You are the head coach, you lose your defensive coach then you need to hold the players accountable. He should be in a position where the players know the difference between Coach Mchale and friend Mchale.

    Life your game Mchale.

eh, it's hardly indicative, we never had home court much at all? 3 times in a decade or something with 6 or 7 first round losses in a row, choke city was a way worse situation.
