No one, and I mean no one, has ever reported Jimmy Butler as a locker-room prima donna. No one.

(dramatic pause while the smell of bull**** permeates this thread.......)

    Jimmy wants to come home.

"While a source close to Butler contends that his intense, direct style can come off as combative as he's trying to make clear his viewpoints, Butler's sluggish assimilation into the Sixers environment is causing some concern about his long-term viability and fit with the organization, league sources said. Nevertheless, the franchise's full focus and resources remain on making this new partnership work this season and beyond."

"Butler has expressed a desire to teammates that he hopes to play in more traditional pick-and-roll and isolation sets, rather than trying to find his place in the Sixers free-flowing offense, league sources said. In searching for answers, Butler has met privately with Brown and his coaching staff, as well as general manager Elton Brand, league sources told ESPN."

"Butler, 29, can become a free agent this summer, and the organization's preference has been to re-sign him to an extension. Rival teams believe that Butler will eventually decide to take meetings with interested suitors in July. Butler's preference has been to sign a more lucrative deal to remain with the Sixers, but it's clear that there are issues to be worked out before that comfort level fully exists."

His mom was probably alright. Starting to realize he probably forced his way out to get more attention.

    Jimmy has always been Hollywood.

There is no way that he is going to avoid being courted by other teams and there is was no way he was going to shut his mouth and be a happy trooper.

Having said that, I suspect he and Brown are fine. Jimmy was confrontational with Thibs too..... just how he is.

The only happy James Butler is an unhappy James Butler.

    Poor James
    Unhappy in Chicago
    Unhappy in Minnesota
    Unhappy in Filthadelphia

Butler, as a fellow Houston area resident, sees the media bias against Houston teams. So he’ll sign for all the money Morey can muster up for him... Everyone is getting tired of Houston being the media/ leagues/refs team of contempt; and Butler is going to play where his heart it!

If we say it long enough, maybe It’ll happen...

Isn't that what anyone would want from a player at their peak?

To challenge everything. His teammates, coaches, organization, and opponents alike... hell I'm sure this would be welcomed by CP and Harden.

I'd take him for Gordon and pieces as a 3 month+ rental.

Him and Embiid are not good with each other. Both of them are being indirect and passive-aggressive about it.

Brown is not helping either. Butler is completely right that there are situations where the Sixers would benefit from isolating him (with Simmons setting the pick) rather than watching Simmons trying to mesmerize the other team into forgetting that he can't shoot for ****.

not necessarily. especially when he's going to an organization that just began to turn the corner without him and already have two core pieces who both are star level talents. who is he to say what works and what doesn't. a better teammate would try to fit in where he best can on a new team and let the wrinkles work out. Instead of coming in and forcefully putting yourself as the #1 priority and wanting things to go your own way personally

you say that would be welcomed here. I completely disagree. we've seen how well guys do here caught up in their own ego's. it doesn't end well on all aspects

If he pulled this mess after a week with being with the team, then I would understand.

He's already 2 months into his stint with the Sixers. Of course he's done his best to mesh with the team, the culture, and the rest of the players he shares the floor with. So you're saying he should wait until the all-star break to hash things out? Maybe till April on the verge of the playoffs? I feel like bringing these issues up (whatever they are) now rather than later would benefit all parties... especially if the coach, whom is responsible for making it ALL mesh, can't get a good grasp on the logistics of player roles.

The problem is they expected to be the #1 team in the East after the trade (this includes the media) but they're still behind the Bucks, Raptors, and Pacers for the top spot.

And I know you're not trying to compare an aging player at the tail end of his career with next to no production/value to a guy that is actually at the peak of his career and able to contribute all-star production on both ends of the floor.

hes played 21 games with them. they're 15-6 in those games. what exactly are you referring to as far as done his best. There's obviously some positivity going on, otherwise their record would be flipped. That record hardly signals some drastic change in what is being brought up in that article. If JB prefers a certain style, and a significant portion of the team isn't as comfortable with it who actually benefits? the team doesn't thats for sure. does JB? maybe, if he just cares about stats. but if losses come along with it do we see JB being an issue again? his track record says absolutely

what exactly are they behind in? none of those teams have proven who is actually #1. It's all a guess at this point. A record of being within games within each other says nothing besides rankings on paper. Actual play will tell who's the best of the group

An ego is an issue no matter how old you are. age has nothing to do with this. one things for sure is anyone who brought their ego here and didn't think about the team first didn't last long

You're wrong. Age has everything to do with it and so does fit.

If he feels like the offense can run better through him. Okay. Let's figure out a way that would work, but if there's no feasible way we move on and do what we've been doing. When injuries hit Ben Simmons or even worse Joel Embiid (the best player on that team, that was almost taken out by Simmons a couple games ago) then what? There's no reason this can't be discussed with a coach behind closed doors, which from my understanding is exactly what happened here.

There is a rat in the house and that's the only reason this has become news for any of us. At the end of the day a record is all that matters. The Rockets are a prime example of a team that went from one extreme to the other, there's nothing guaranteed in this league.

Expecting them to be the clear cut team overall in the East isn't beyond the realm of possibility. I don't see how stats came in the way of him progressing in Minny? It was all about winning, which they weren't very good at. If anything Embiid and Simmons were the two that may have had the spat about something that was potentially stat driven.

The way I look at it this guy is a fiery competitor. You take it as him being a primadonna, which is fine, that's your opinion. But there's no reason that he shouldn't challenge anything to make the team better. Obviously if it's for the worse there's no point, but I don't see anything wrong with him challenging them internally. Which is what I understand happened in this article.

what are you talking about wrong. if anyone's wrong its you making some case of it being a right or wrong thing. dont try to tell someone they're wrong when this is a subjective thing. you obviously like how JB is and all his drama. Alot of other people don't

an ego is completely separate from age. so what its ok for a JB to have this ego when he has shown next to nothing about actual winning. is that your viewpoint? if so that's completely stupid

For real. Butler is the type of dude that will challenge any hierarchy he's a part of because he wants to run every situation he's in.
