Forget about Rox v Dallas. If Silas is able to roll out a Doncic-defense that the NBA can copy, they might drop out of the playoffs. And the insufferable Doncic is infallible talk might tone down to a tolerable level...as Silas reveals his flaws hahahahaaha
That is a good point........ can you imagine Mark Cuban on the sidelines as Doncic turns the ball over.
Opponents PPG to measure defense? That’s archaic, this isn’t 2005. u could argue it, but u would be wrong
If Rockets had as many 35% shooters from 3, do you think they barely make the playoffs? Put down MDA and Morey by all means, but they never had the Rockets below 4th seed during MDA's tenure. Carlisle just finally made it back to playoffs after a dry spell, barely. If not for a historically great offense, how bad was this team's defense for team to suck that bad? Shooters that cannot D are just as problematic. But it's easier for fans to ignorantly **** on the pros because they know better.
Ben Mac and Dan House are pretty damn good shooters too. Ben wasn't even played in the playoffs and his shot looks like a reincarnated Ray Allen.
Seems like alot people in and around the league have nothing but good things to say about Silas. I think Rockets lucked their way into a great hire
Management needs to show flexibility, I’m worried that TF might kick him out after 12-13 games, like McHale was. I wasn’t a McHale fan, but he was better than Bickerstaff Jr.
AP - June 20, 2021 "There are reports that Rockets head coach Stephen Silas is currently attempting to work a buy out of his current contract with the team. Silas is quoted as saying "No, it isn't Tilman, it is me. I have a headache and I want to spend more time with my children and wife. Basketball is you know, secondary. I am not leaving the Rockets because ownership is terrible."
I'm not saying Silas will or won't be a great coach. But the lvoe he is getting from around the league, specifically from players, is a VERY encouraging sign to me. Buy in from players is super important. He's also getting love from coaches. Like he REALLY KNOWS his ****. X's and O's. Now, look... he might just be a nice, hardworking dude, in over his head, but everyone likes him. But the upside is this is a really good coach, that has put in his dues, and might make some things happen. As far as coaching goes, I think they nailed the hire. Outcome may or may not reflect that... but im very happy with it.
If anyone had any doubt about Tilman inserting the Fertitta boy into managing the Rockets, well I hope this alone shows you that we are headed for darker times, unless Patrick turns out to be a basketball genius, which I highly doubt. Come at me Patrick, come at me.
lol patrick is far from a basketball genius. before tilman owned the rockets he was in charge of getting high rollers to come to golden nugget in LC and attending to their needs. He still goes out there in downtime off and on when certain people decide they want to go. his basketball iq is terrible and has 0 qualifications to be in a high level position for a sports organization
Seriously depressing... Patrick has zero credibility as a basketball mind. Didn't play, didn't coach, doesn't have a relevant degree. Etc, etc, etc. He doesn't know the game and should not be making decisions.
I gotta think it must have been weird, if not straight up cringe for Daryl and the staff to be in a room with Patrick (and Tilman) listening to his opinions on what they should do etc. Spoiler Spoiler
