Of those choices, the two with the best history of creating winning teams at different franchises in the RS are Doc and MDA, but Doc has won a championship and has been to two NBA finals. Both better than MDA. JVG is an excellent defensive coach, but has never had a good offense, his absolute peak being a mediocre 15th in the league in Ortg with many in the bottom third. Probably a HOF commentary guy in the future, along with Jackson and very likeable, but not sure if he can get this team over the hump as a coach. Ty Lue has won a championship and been to three finals, and his firing was confusing to me. But Doc has a history of building winning teams at different franchises, something Lue hasn't done yet. Also Lue was an assistant coach under Doc this year. Atkinson has a losing record in the regular season and playoffs in his years at Brooklyn, but his teams did get better under him. Hasn't created a strong offense to match is defense either. I like Cassell of course, but he is unproven and I don't know what would seperate him from others based on his record as a coach. Udoka has experience with the Spurs and 76ers and has spent a little time under winning cultures, unproven as well for a win now team. But props to him for Nia Long though. I'm going with Doc out of these choices then Lue.
Chris Finch hopefully gets looked closely. He coached with Nick Nurse in RGV Vipers to win Championships. There has to be some influence. Does he have leadership qualities like Rudy T has, Kind and Calm Influence, Motivates everyone and grows younger players on the bench so they can be ready for the playoffs. To have a solid 10 man rotation.
Yep. Time to get serious and bring in someone to teach this organization how to win championships...not just analytical chucking and small ball.
Wow. @BigBum, you hit it out of the park with that one. At this point, there is absolutely NO WAY that D'Antoni would agree to come back to the Rockets after Tilman disrespected him. Also at this point, there is absolutely NO WAY that Fertitta would agree to re-hire MDA after MDA shamed up publicly. If Mike D'Antoni is coaching the Rockets next year, I will leave ClutchFans for a full year.
Lue was fired by Cleveland in October 2018, and eventually Vogel got the LA job over Lue. I feel like if Lue was that good, there'd be no reason not to sign him to be the coach then, especially since LeBron was already a Laker by the time they signed Vogel and they have familiarity.
Same. It's not happening, but I wanted him hired when Jeff Bzdelick quit. I want him in our front office or on the bench so bad. He's not leaving Miami though. Smartest player to ever lace them up.
I’m sold on John Lucas followed by Kelvin Sampson as option 2 I expect the pay level to be at Brase or Abdelfattah levels........we be cheap.
2 out of 3 of them have multiple rings, lol. Keep chucking and playing mathematical sports tho. I don't enjoy stats...I enjoy championships.
