Woman pretends to be persecuted Trump supporter — and scams conservatives out of $150,000

Trump U was sued and paid a large settlement because they really did defraud people. The same could happen here with this chick if she got those folks' money, but it doesn't seem like she did. Wake me up with the FBI indict her.

 

Of course they are different things...... the point is that you can find something funny and still think it is criminally wrong.

I think he should shut his mouth and quit tweeting. He's his own worst enemy. I think he needs to be fact checked on most things he says. He's a businessman turned politician. Do you think I believe every word out of his mouth?

Trump U was held to account and that's fine, but compare repercussions a bit. Neither go to jail. Trump paid a settlement that was roughly a 50% refund to the complainants and no punitive awards. Assuming GoFundMe stopped this woman's fraud, that'd be a 100% refund. Trump U had overhead and this lady's small-time grift did not, so she probably wins by walking away with $0. But Trump takes a Seattle Supersonics approach to malfeasance: the refs can't call everything. For every Trump U he lost on, how many scams did he win on?

I agree with you that what this lady did was fraud, it was wrong, etc. But you're complaining about this failed small-time scam when these very same victims are also victim to Trump's yuge presidential scam. Where are the repercussions for that one?

 

You can't take the politics out of politics. She scammed people pretending to be a black Trump supporter because she knows Trump supporters are desperate to show he's not a white supremacist because he has minority support. It's a great con.

Placing her con on the level of what Trump has done is a false equivalence. There's no comparison.
