I sincerely hope not. Rockets offense wouldn't really work w/o at least some semblance of spacing. I'd still give D-Mo the starting nod (provided he doesn't get shipped for Dragic which I hope not).

Smith is best used as a super-sub to bring energy and defensive presence to the 2nd unit on our team.

It will be in his contract. Plus he is contractually guaranteed at least 2 3s per game.

    Yes he should.

He makes our starting five an ELITE defense. Dmo takes the backup C minutes from Dwight and gets more touches with Dwight sitting.

If you can't see the benefits of him starting......well i feel bad for you.

He will start, but he should come off the bench IMO.

He should start, if he's the top option off the bench it's gonna be a chuckfest.

You don't understand how our offense works.

How the heck are we going to get threes when neither Smith/Howard can be out on the perimeter. Less room for Harden to penetrate etc.

He is getting a ton of money from the Pistons, but it is a contract year as you have correctly pointed out. I hope he can prove me wrong, and play well for us.

I actually don't mind. Spacing for the starting lineup will be a bit difficult, but we still run the offense through harden and Dwight most of the time in the first quarter.

It's really interesting putting d-mo as the 6th man, as he will get a ton of touches when he comes in (moreso than if he's in the starting lineup), which I'm ok with. Really balances out our offense over the course of the game, and we can move smith to the 5 when d-mo comes in.

Theoretically, it could end up pretty good.

They're not the best, but they're also not known bricklayers like Smith has been for the last 2 years.

    This.

Smith starts. Dmo gets ALL of the back up 4 and 5 minutes that are possible.

Question: If Smith does pretty decent here, What do you think he will be offered in the open market this summer?

    3 yrs / 25 mill?

Smith starting means D-Mo coming off the bench to backup either Dwight and/or Smith, which ends up meaning less minutes for Dwight, which is a GOOD thing.

Dorsey and Black should be getting nothing more than DNP-CDs the rest of the way barring any injuries once Terrance Jones comes back.

Our potential 2nd unit is DMo, Jones, Papa, Brewer, and Terry/Canaan O_O
