Strange that Dwight Howard is not on this list. He should be used more.

Usage rating is no good, should take count of FTs(-and1), TOs and to some extent Ast, basically ways to consume a possession.

There are only 7 players in the league with a higher usage rate than Harden... I'd say that his usage was pretty high.

When I was bored I calculated some random stats for some of the leading scorers for fun. I did points per shot, then I did points per shot counting free throws as attempts since some people say Harden is inefficient if you do that, and no matter what it was always LeBron and Durant in their own tier, then Harden in his own tier, then Kobe, Melo, Westbrook, etc.

Harden's usage rate should drop before he plays defense.

    propose "true" usage rating = 【FGA + (FT-AND1)/2 + (2XTOs-AST)/2】/possessions

How did LeBron/Wade and Durant/Westbrook all manage to have such a high usage rate playing with each other while Harden plays with Parsons and is below them?

yikes it's basically kevin and lebron then everybody else.

if harden tried at D, he'd already be a super super star.

Obviously it's because McHale is a ABH (anybody but Harden).

That fitted line does not look accurate. And even if it is, it's correlation coefficient is undoubtedly godawful. At worst they should just remove it and say, "there is NO correlation between usage rate and TS%".

(Disclaimer: Durant is a legit superstar and a great player). But I bet that chart is not indicative of how Durant played in the playoffs as Batman without his Robin.

Also, we dodged a bullet in Josh Smith.

Rudy Gay gonna get up there in Durant's level, be ready world.

Yeah I don't understand the line either. Got to be wrong.

Should just be flat line on what the the league average True Shooting % is, or a line marking "good" TS%. And maybe another straight line on what league average USAGE% is, and see how the names fill into the quadrant squares

MAYBE it can be a TS% line pointing slightly DOWNWARD the OTHER way saying that increased usage results in LOWER TS% (Which is definitely true of Harden from 2012 and 2013.) Thats even speculative, but just common sense.
