Kobe does not want a bonafide playmaker next to him. He dominates the ball. That is why players such Derek Fisher have played next to him.

However, if you insist on the idea that Kobe didn't have bonifide playmaker next to him, the same is true for Harden and thus his numbers are even better.

I am so sick of people making excuses for Kobe.

What I find interesting is almost half the players listed have below league average(53.6%) TS%. Which seems kind of ridiculous. Yes, high usage guys in general have to bite the bullet and take bad shots when the offense breaks down, so you expect a little dip in their TS%. But even so, you really should be at least be average if you're going to jack up so many shots.

 

Whats the funniest part of the graph is how far Melo is to the right.

 

Some of it is,

If tyson chandler or birdman tried to play al jefferson's style, theyd be putting up some embarrassing TS #s. Same with Shane Battier or Thabo Sefalosha trying to play a Danny Granger/Paul George game.

That doesnt excuse Monta Elly HavItAll or Rudy Gay. But some creators have to do the heavy lifting for others clean looks but dont get as much benefit back

 

Agreed. The only good reason to get rid of an outlier is if you think there is a methodological flaw in obtaining that data. Otherwise, it's a perfectly valid part of your sample and should be included. Cutting off the "ends" of the data is, in all honesty, a cheap and lazy trick used by researchers who care more about pretty results than honest science.

If your hypothesis can't support the existence of data which you know actually exists in the real world, then you need to revisit your hypothesis, not cherry-pick your data.
