Every time he'd run up the court everybody would feel sorry for the guy, and he'd get all that benefit of the doubt. Magic came across like, 'All this is my stuff.' Really? Get outta here, dude. He was on the declining end of his career."

Drexler had played exquisitely in the 1992 All-Star Game in Orlando, although the MVP award eventually went to Magic, who had been added by Commissioner Stern as a special thirteenth player to the Western Conference roster. "If we all knew Magic was going to live this long, I would've gotten the MVP of that game, and Magic probably wouldn't have made the Olympic team."

And people were wondering why Clyde didn't get more quotes/interviews in the Dream Team documentary...because they most likely got edited out.

So I guess Clyde didn't realize Magic agreed to be on the team before he found out he had HIV? I believe he was the first player to commit.

He might be right about Magic and the All-star game MVP, but wow... hard to believe he'd be so bitter about it.

McCallum also visits some of the Dream Teamers in 2011. One is Clyde Drexler, who hasn't let go of his old bitter feelings about Magic Johnson, his HIV-afflicted teammate. Magic learned he was HIV-positive before the 1991 NBA season and retired quickly. He came back for the 1992 NBA All-Star Game, and had 25 points and nine assists. He also kept his spot on the Dream Team. Clyde was not pleased about any of that.

And supposedly in this Dream Team book he also claims:

I had a lot of success against Jordan. I beat him often. At his game. Which is also my game. I was bigger, faster. I did everything he could do. Except shoot more.

Stern made the final decision to include Magic in the game, but the fans voted him to be at the game. It's not like Stern felt sorry for him and said "aw, let's put the scrub in". Along with the Rockets Finals, that All-Star game was one of my favorite moments in watching sports.

As for his inclusion into the Olympics, hell yes, he deserved it. Magic and Bird, along with Stern, created the modern-day NBA and kickstarted it.

When I heard him on the NBA Today podcast proclaiming Kobe to still be better than LeBron and Durant, I just had to laugh and shake my head.

Clyde is just... Clyde.
