Morey really needs to trade them back a pick and get something before those picks are worthless.

New York isn't exactly the deepest of teams. If they have to give up too much to get Carmelo, don't assume that will make our picks worthless. They could still suck.

At what point does holding on to your assets too long become a problem?

After a certain time these "assets" are no longer assets.

If the Rockets land Anthony, it's a double punch in the gut to the Knicks, but if New York trades for him, the same applies to Houston (though probably not as severe). Anywhere but New York because they're a playoff lock with him in a top-heavy East.

I know the Rockets felt better about their chances if they got closer to the trade deadline, and to be honest, I thought that was what Denver was going to do. Let's hope this doesn't work out.

If this trade does go through they are at the worst a 6 seed in the East.

Our draft picks value is hardly anything at that point.

They are playing well with just Amare now. If they were to get Melo, trust me those picks are toast. I'm with DD. Trade a pick back to them for Chandler or Randolph!

Not buying it. Remember when word came out that the Knicks will acquire a draft that will satisfy Denver's needs? Turned out to be the Spurs pick.

The Knicks was always Carmelo's first choice. If he ends up in NY, Chris Paul will soon follow. Watch out for the East.

I don't think the Nuggets would want the Knicks-to-Rockets picks anyways.

You think so? I think Anthony-Stoudemire is a sure thing to finish in the top 8 in the East. You've got Miami, Boston, Orlando in the top 3. Atlanta is up there, then you've got Charlotte, Chicago and Milwaukee to consider. There could a surprise team, but that conference is lopsided.

15th-20th picks can still get you something decent in this league.

Exactly what I think surround Amare and Anthony with a bunch of D-league scrubs and they sneak into the playoffs...

Trade them back a pick...if we can.

That's what I thought too. Gallinari, Randolph, plus whoever it is they have to trade to get that pick (Chandler or Douglas?). That's like 3 guys out of their rotation.

Would you guys trade Bud and the NY top 1 protected pick back to NY for Galinari?

Anyone seen a lot of their games? Does he play any D at all? I know he is a crafty Euro who is lights out from 3, but what else can he do?

You could be right. I hadn't paid much attention to thebEastern Conference frankly, but after a quick scan there's the 7 decent teams you mentioned and then the last spot is wide open. Probably NYK, DET, PHI, IND, and WAS competing for the spot. I guess CLE should be in the mix too.

If New York isn't good enough to get that spot without Melo, does the trade put them over the top? It depends on what they're giving up. Melo and Amare are very good offensive players, but if its just those two and a bunch of scrubs then I don't know how good that team really is. Maybe I'm just too used to seeing the Knicks as dysfunctional.
