wow. they are really putting all their eggs in the basket to win this upcoming season or next.

Vince Carter makes way too much money, for too long, with too high a risk of either breaking down or getting worse, for them to be allocating so much money to their frontcourt...

...ESPECIALLY when you consider part of the reason they were such a tough match-up for a team like Cleveland, for example, was because they played Rashard at the PF instead of SF.

odd with the money to carter, the money to bass, now matching gortat the magic are going to be in lux tax big time

i mean they have that trade exception from the raptors as well which they'll probably let expire maybe thats why they were able to retain gortat?

He'll probably still start and play alot of minutes at PF. They'll probably start Pietrus along side of him and VC will be making the plays in Hedo's place. Remember, they added another tall shooter in Ryan Anderson. The positions may be different but the roles will be the same.

Yeah, and with the LT, its double. For the first few years they're eating that LT, Gortat will be paid 11MM/year as a backup center. WHEW.

Great, so glad to see Dallas as a loser again. Hope that Morey can work out a trade with Magic.

Gortat was Morey's top target in free agency. So glad he messed up Dallas' off-season and not ours.

Looks like the 2nd best center in the league is staying in Dallas! Not that I ever had any fear that we would trade for that career loser.

The Magic WILL trade Gortat, they are not paying that kind of money for a 10-15 mins backup.

Besides, Gortat wants to be a starter, and he will never be one in Orlando.

The Magic will probably keep him to see how Bass and Anderson play, and in case they do well, will trade Gortat.
His salary won't count for the lux tax if they trade him before the trade deadline.

Note: Gortat's trade value is around 3 mil, not the full value of his contract.
