Rockets to hire Mike D'Antoni

Have the Rockets made this officially "official"? Press conference announced? Ect...Waiting to round out his staff perhaps?

This surely isn't a worse move than firing McHale after 11 games.

 

Well, it might be as bad a move as hiring McHale in the first place.

If I didn't know any better I'd say that nobody in Houston likes this hire. I'm sure there are people who do, I just haven't run into them yet.
It's like the person or persons who made the choice paid no attention whatsoever to what was going on all last season.

It's been a very long time since I followed the Suns under D'Antoni, so I wanted to ask you did Raja Bell, and Barbosa play under him or Gentry? They were quite capable defenders as so was Marion from what I recall.

I have no expectations from D'Antoni, but having athletic shooters,slashers who can defend can be a plus point, provided if he lets them do so.

 

I disagree with the first part. Why will this sell seats? This hire is overwhelmingly disapproved of on here and I can't imagine it's much more popular with the rest of the Rockets fanbase who don't visit Clutchfans. And for the remaining folks out there who don't care about the head coach but still might be in the market for season tickets, they're likely basing their decision on what happened last year which was an unmitigated disaster.

I think we're gonna see a lot of empty seats at Toyota Center this upcoming season. And I mean throughout the game, not just at tipoff like normal.

 

Shane Battier is doing a live Q&A session on Product Hunt and he responded to my question of whether he would consider coaching with this. I specifically mentioned Houston and his relationship with Morey and MDA. Daryl Please!

 

Confirmed: Battier in it for the money. Pass.
