Just further proving the point that Schaub was never on the same level as Foster. Schaub in his best season had to be debated on being in the top 10 at his position, a whole tier or 2 tiers below the elusive "elite" level, at best. Foster in his prime was among the top 3 and arguably the best at his position. I don't want to take away from Schaub's good run, because I was actually in the camp that debated he was much better than some gave him credit for and I believed we could have won with him, but Foster was clearly on another level. Going back to the original point that started this whole debate, I would have liked for the Texans to wait at least 1 year before allowing #23 to be used, similar to Seattle with #24
A point that no one disputed and was only being discussed by Houstunna and the straw man he was arguing with. Back to the actual point that was being discussed, Foster didn't stay healthy enough and didn't accomplish enough for the Texans to have anywhere near as strong a claim to the team waiting a year to use his number again as Lynch has. If Foster was healthy more often, or the Texans had more success in the post-season directly related to Foster then that would change things.
This was the only draft pick that was a head-scratcher for me. They must have not been very high on Jerrell Adams and/or Akeem Hunt.

Since I don't like any of our TEs I was also hoping for Adams, or even David Morgan from UTSA (good blocker, decent hands, also played basketball so has some athleticism, drafted 188 by MIN).
Why? Not like Andre had any seasons in double digit TD receptions. Pretty lame that we have to retire someone who got 4-5 avg a year. 3-4 seasons over 5. (BobbyTheGreat) style post.
Not at all actually. Andre's number should be retired in Houston. He did a lot for the franchise and gave the team 12 seasons as one of the best WR's in the game. That's someone that deserves their number retired. Don't confuse me advocating for having standards as me "hating"
While I don't like the pick fully in terms of need/potential value (IMO Booker is a more complete back), his role on this team is going to be big. We've needed a true pass catching RB for a while now. This kid has a similar skillset and frame to Darren Sproles. The Patriots offense which is similar to ours has heavily relied on having a pass-catching RB to add the dynamic punch to their offense. It helps to have a Tom Brady, but having the threat of a legitimate pass-catching RB makes their offense roll. Whether it has been Shane Vereen, Dion Lewis, James White etc, they've all added versatility.
Andre had a longer career but that is the nature of a running back vs. a wide receiver in terms of their peak, for me, Arian was the best player in the history of the franchise, he was at least the most important factor in winning actual games I would rest both numbers for a couple years
2016 NFL Draft: Five head-scratching picks http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000659674/article/2016-nfl-draft-five-headscratching-picks Round 4, pick 119 -- RB Tyler Ervin, Texans: I think Ervin can be a really good kick returner and I think he has value as a change-of-pace third-down runner. But, I wouldn't have taken him over Utah's Devontae Booker, who went 17 picks later. Booker could be a solid three-down back. If the Texans were set on taking an undersized player with change-of-pace ability, I would have taken Wendell Smallwood from West Virginia -- Smallwood went in the next round. I like Ervin, but I think there were better options at his position at that point in the draft.
