I grew up on grunge but I just don't listen to it anymore. The indie rock - Pavement, Neutral Milk, Built to Spill, etc... they had staying power with me for some reason.

Never was a great fan of the grunge era but it did kill the HAIR BAND ERA, so I was pretty happy it arrived when it did.
I think 80's hair metal is a bit underrated. Of course I am the one that started that thread, lol. Grunge is no better or worse than hair metal just different. The thing that's always stuck in my head is when Kurt Cobain dismissed Guns N Roses and their music as irrelevant. Cobain may have been a genius but that doesn't make his opinion any less wrong. Both Nevermind and Appetite for Destruction are considered two of most important albums in last 30 years.
