    HOW TO WATCH MOVIES
The only video file types that the TouchPad will play out of the box are MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264.

KalemSoft Media Player is the only app I've found that plays most any standard media type (avi, divx, xvid, wmv, wma, mkv, etc.) It will play directly from the device or stream from any PC with KalemSoft Media Streaming installed. Tried it out earlier today and the speed/quality of streaming video is pretty decent, even running wireless to my PC. You can also live stream from any webcam on the installed PC, so maybe check in on your house or spouse when you're away.

KalemSoft Media Player is $5.99 through http://kalemsoft.com or $6.99 through the HP App Catalog (in case you don't want to hassle with downloading it to a PC and transferring to/installing on TouchPad)
KalemSoft Media Streaming is free through the same website.

    Is the WebOS Software Dead?
NO, Again Hp is not Discontinuing Web OS (Software). The only thing they are discontinuing is hardware . HP will give you support to Web Os. HOPE THIS UNDERSTAND.Source: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-...re-bought-with-palm-not-dead-dewitt-says.html

lol this ordeal is hilarious. HP TouchPad went from no support, no owners to the second most popular tablet now and since it is the 2nd most popular much more support for apps.

Wonder if this was a smart way to try and monetize webOS as a software platform for other OEMs?

I wonder how HP feels about this sudden boom in their sales (not profit, just numberwise). Maybe they should rethink their position.

They definitely didn't get any money.
Cost 250 dollars in parts to manufacture but they sold it for only 100 dollars.

Well, maybe it will still work out in the end. Sony did this with PS2 and PS3; selling a few hundred below cost to increase market share.

Its a huge risk for them, of course.
But its a better alternative than just not selling anything at all I guess.

my computer is acting up on me, but I haven't bothered to fix it since I got the Touchpad.....so every post I have made here in the last week has been on my 32G Touchpad.

obviously, I'm gonna have to fix it since I can't do *everything* I do on this, but for my general online work it does just fine.

good job there IMF, this is exactly what I meant in the other thread.

top 5 things you must do as a new TP owner
    1: immediately update to 3.0.2
2: install webosquickinstall on your computer
    3: install preware
4: install patches from preware (volume, responsiveness patches)
    5: install overclocking

but before you start installing, hit the precentral touchpad forums and get to reading. If there is anything you are having trouble understanding, post it here and I'm sure we can get ya headed in the right direction.

Got my 32gb on the way. Now I need some advice. How can I make my samsung infuse from at&t a mobile hotspot without incurring an extra charge from at&t? I wish to do this without rooting the phone if possible. I can root if I have to, just scared. Thanks to Puggs, I have easy tether pro, but it has to be tethered to laptop by usb cord.

You'll most likely have to root it in order to get a mobile hotspot without having to use a USB cable.

    http://androidcommunity.com/samsung-infuse-4g-rooted-via-superoneclick-20110512/

Use that link and it tells you how to root the phone.

Then do that. You should be good to go.

I rooted my evo4g for wireless tether. Its really not that hard.

htownrox01.....it isn't normally a smart thing to troll a thread a mod is interested in-
....doing that has a tendency to effect your membership status.

so go play with your little iPad and let us have fun with ours.
