are any of you all facing lay offs? anyone have any spots for: Inside/Outside Sales Procurement Operations Inside Sales manager. ETC just being proactive..
They may be laying off in the offices, but out here in the field those of us who actually get our hands dirty are doing just fine. Just driving in to work today I saw several help wanted signs out here in the port area. They are all for blue collar, bust your ass jobs but the jobs are there nonetheless.
I'm pretty sure at least 40% of the working people here (not the college kids) work in the oil field. Having said that, people are worried about their job security at this point and I doubt there are that many openings for your requirements. PM me when the economy gets better.
Thank you sir.. It's getting bad.. So many companies laying off. It seems like more people in this field are being laid off than I remember in 08/09.
Laying off and pay cuts. My bud who is a field supervisor for drilling says they cut his pay by $200 a day. That's a lot of $$$
Things are tight in upstream and midstream O&G operations, but business has never been better downstream. Other than the recent strikes of course.
How does this dip in the oil industry affect work in the petro-chemical plants? I was thinking of going back to school to become a Process Technology Operator in about a year, but I'm concerned it may be the wrong time.
What field do you work in ?? There's like 30 stacked H&P rigs right past the Midland airport. Everyone from roughneck to roustabout to welder to whatever are feeling these oil prices. In fact, I'd say the blue collar jobs are hit hardest because of the reduced activity. I guess I could see there being more hiring downstream, but they're actually profiting from lower oil prices so that's expected.
Yeah my friend who works in the field in Eagleford has said things are slowing down and layoffs are coming.
Actually that's pretty much how they're filling the new trading/logistics roles nowadays instead of experienced hires. But they're competitive as all get out so if you didn't get a whiff during Junior fall or over the next two months you're probably out of luck.
