So it's come down to this: Ryan Mallett (age 27) or Brian Hoyer (age 29, turning 30 in october) Who do you want starting, and why?
Mallett because Hoyer is complete and total garbage. I'm not sure Mallett will be awesome, but Hoyer could barely keep a starting job over Manziel....pretty pathetic.
Hoyer, so the team can stink and get a high draft pick and get a good QB. But seriously, I've never been as high on Mallet as most have. And I couldn't figure out the Hoyer signing. At this point I have no clue and hope the coaching staff makes the right decision.
Doesn't matter to me. Whichever performs better in practice. And according to history, it's more likely that whoever starts will fail and the other guy will get his shot at some point.
I don't get it. They're both Texans QBs. SRSLY speaking: let the coaches decide and quit the speculating and questioning their knowledge over ours.
Mallett because no one believes Hoyer will lead us anywhere. Mallet may not either but he's at least an unknown. Hoyer has removed all doubt (that he ain't "the one.")
It's unlikely either leads us anyway. There are maybe 8 QB's in the league than can lead a team. The best we're hoping for is having someone that is competent enough to not lose games for us. That's the reality of it. O'Brien I imagine prefers Hoyer right now.
Doesn't really matter to me. Yeah, we already pretty much know what Hoyer is and that he's not going to be a franchise QB. And I'd kind of like to see Mallett because he's still an unknown and there's still a sliver of hope he can be something. But whoever is going to win the job is going to win the job. If Mallett can't beat out Hoyer then that tells you all you need to know about the possibility of him becoming a legit starter in the league. And if neither of these guys is a long term solution (most likely scenario) then just let to coaches decide who gives us the best chance of winning.
I think this is a pretty good poll for profiling purposes. No actual Texans fan wants to see Hoyer be the starting QB. Sure it could end up happening, but that's sort of a worst case scenario, anyone who is hoping for a worst case scenario....well, you have to question their motives. You might as well ask, who do you want to see start more games at center for the Rockets next year, Dwight Howard or Joey Dorsey?
Brian T. Smith was on 790 this morning and he said that based on what he saw at OTA's last week, that he thinks it'll be Hoyer. He said Mallet looked like crap (paraphrasing).
Title was supposed to say "2015 Texans Starting QB: Ryan Mallett or Brian Hoyer?" But I thought it was implied and common sense so I left out the starting part... lol.
Yep, lets find out if Bill O'Brien is really just a Patriots mole. If he starts Hoyer, fire him immediately and hire BTG.
