With the craft beer boom happening here, giving the U.S some some serious clout in the global beer domination debate, I figure a thread to discuss what fills your cup is in order. Living in San Diego, I'm an IPA w****, so my current go to list includes: - The Pupil, Societe Brewing Company http://societebrewing.com/beer/ If you believe in international bitterness unit (IBU) ratings, this one is about a 70, which happens to be in my wheelhouse. 7.5%ABV doesn't hurt the cause either. - Nelson, Alpine Beer Company http://www.alpinebeerco.com/the_beers.html - Swamis, Pizza Port http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/pizza-port-swamis-india-pale-ale/22997/ This one may be the best value at $12.99 6 pack/16oz Cans. Also, upon my latest visit to Texas, seeking out a reputable IPA, I stumbled onto this: -Deep Ellum IPA, Deep Ellum Brewing http://www.deepellumbrewing.com/beer/ Probably the only worthwhile thing out of Dallas.
I've gotten on a Thirsty Goat Amber Ale kick lately. It's a local brew here in Austin. The pub I play trivia at every week has it on tap. Delicious!
The Twin Cities area has a lot of great craft beers with new microbreweries opening almost everyweek. My own practice has worked on two this year. In addition to that some of the older legacy regional breweries have become craft breweries and improved the quality of their product. Here's some of the ones I've been drinking. Fulton Beer http://fultonbeer.com/index.php Schells http://schellsbrewery.com/ Liftbridge http://liftbridgebrewery.com/ Surly has been getting a lot of attention in the craft beer circles but I'm not as much of a fan of their beers. http://surlybrewing.com/
I'm beer free in 2015, but yes. This one, and ballast point sculpin are two of my all time favorites. Sculpin especially because it's one of the rare great ones that come in six packs of cans or bottles, and widely available. Even some heb's. I could hardly find yellow rose at specks. Only occasionally. Neighbor of the beast Isn't as good as yellow rose, but still pretty good. From lone pint.
Vanilla Porter - Breckenridge Brewery <img src="http://www.theperfectlyhappyman.com/uploads/breckenridge-vanilla-porter.jpg" width=400 />
My wife loves the Revolver Blood and Honey. I'm not big on it though. Good choice! Lakewood brewery's Temptress is a good Imperial milk stout at 9% alcohol. My favorite right now is a brown ale from Grapevine brewery (Grapevine, Tx) called Sir Williams. If you like craft beer, the Untapped app is a must-have. It helps you keep track of all the different beers you drink, let's you rate them, and share them with friends who are also using the app.
Oh yeah agree with you on Sculpin. Also had the Grapefruit Sculpin recently which was delicious. +1 on Temptress too
Any sour ale I can get my hands on. If there isn't one, I grab something hoppy. I heard IPAs cause man boobs though... Trying to avoid those.
Love Thirsty Goat. Independence is probably my favorite Austin brewery. Austin Amber was my go to. Southern Star Pine Belt Pale is one of my favorites, too.
