Ballast Point, while great, is like the Anheuser Busch out here now. Sculpin is everywhere, which is good because it is a good fallback if something else isn't on tap.

I am amazed at how far they have come, though. I remember drinking 50 cent tasters in their small strip mall brewery 10 years ago. Now, Sculpins are being featured in television shows such as Silicon Valley.

And, as I just posted, Grapefruit Sculpins are I.V worthy.

Texas overall has mediocre craft beer. There are some fine selections on the WC but in my humble opinion, the best craft beer, bar none comes from the Midwest .... Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.

No.... Three Floyd's is the finest craft brewery in the world.... Bells and Founders are exceptional as well.

There are fine breweries (lots of depth especially) on the West Coast, but the creme de la creme are in smaller Midwest areas. They don't get the attention based on history or location... and I too used to believe Calif and Oregon had the best... but I was set straight.

Agree with all this. It has to be the water they have (except cali).

Isnt all this moot, since all this is subjective anyway? I prefer Mcdonalds hotcakes to IHOPs fluffy pancakes. Does that make me wrong? Just enjoy your favorite brew while cheering on the Rockets and be merry. Damn.

No, you're forgetting North Carolina, where many of the larger Western companies are opening up a second distribution center ON TOP OF already existing craft beer infrastructure.

Check out Asheville, where they have ~20 breweries and I think a population between 100K - 150K.

I'm aware of this as well. Definitely an up-and-coming market, especially with the culture in that area. But I wouldn't put them in with the top dogs yet. In a few years, I think they will be a bigger factor.

Societe - The Bachelor - 100% Galaxy hops. It's Amazing. Unfortunately for most of you, only available in San Diego and maybe occasionally LA if you know where to look.

Too many to list, but right now my beer fridge is full of All Day IPA's by Founders. Lower ABV but it just tastes like the perfect beer to me after trying so many.
