Never heard of Brash before. I moved away from Houston a long time ago. But, I love that someone named a beer after the EZ-7 ditch.
Brought some of those back from our trip to Raleigh/Asheville a couple years ago. Good stuff. I rarely get past the Houston-area beers. Between Karbach and No Label, I rarely venture out. They have a wide assortment of brews that I enjoy. The Staycation is probably my favorite right now.
I generally stick to IPAs.. Sculpin IPA - Ballast Point Brewing Company at Gorgeous Gael. Hopulent IPA by Epic Brewing...not impressed. Too hoppy. Is there a good app to keep track of different beers you try?
Just got back from Houston and am very impressed with the craft beer scene in Houston. Really liked the Buffalo Bayou Wit. Is that only a seasonal or is something they carry regularly?
I usually just drink Budweiser but Torpedo from Sierra Nevada is pretty good. Strong too. 7.2 percenter
On the East coast they have the gall to charge $16-18 dollars for a six pack of Sculpin now, which is just laughable. Pretty much every brewery can make a passable, good, or even a great IPA, paying twice as much for Sculpin (which is a very good one), when there are so many other options, is just plain crazy.
Agreed. I had a taste of this over the weekend, which was something new. The India Pale Lager (IPL). Pretty good stuff. http://www.ballastpoint.com/beer/fathom/
Agree with the poster about Midwest beers, specifically Michigan ones. Bells, Founders, Short's, Detroit Brewing Co, Arbor Brewing, Jolly pumpkin, New Holland just to name a few. Of course Three Floyds is great, not MI though.
heard they just started canning these, very excited. For me, its the best beer made in Houston. Glad I'll be in town next week to pick some up
Nice! Green Flash bought Alpine so it makes sense that they would ramp up distribution. Keep an eye out for Nelson, although they are hard to find even in San Diego. Speaking of craft breweries being purchased, this happened back in November: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...o-acquire-ballast-point-brewery-for-1-billion Can you imagine turning your hobby into 1B dollars within 20 years time?
Stone Go To IPA is by far my favorite session beer I've ever had. All Day IPA doesn't even compare any longer.
