They today found a document signed by Franz Beckenbauer that shows the German WC comittee offered huge bribes to Jack Warner shortly before the voting for the 2006 World Cup. Don't know yet wether they actually went through with it, but Beckenbauer surely is fkked
I don't think it was bribes. The details of the document are not exactly known, but from what I read, it was about tickets, a friendly match, etc. Whoever thinks that in the FIFA system, it is possible to get a world cup to your country without making promises/concessions to the people who vote (and/or the associations behind them) is not realistic. I still like Beckenbauer and think he has done a great job.

Honestly, what's the difference between this, and London LEGALLY going up to each Federation and pledging millions of dollars to their regions for development and academies.....as long as they voted in favor of a British World Cup?
I remember hearing word(rumors?) about this after they won the bid and all the way until South Africa 2010. I believe South Africa were expected to win the 2006 bid much like the USA with 2022 but somehow Germany won 2006. I figure just about every WC going back to the 80s has been won with some amount of money being exchanged. Even USA 94.
Same here. New information says Jack Warner and his CONCACAF unanimously voted for South Africa, so maybe Beckenbauer didn't went through with this. Or Warner toyed with everyone and stuffed his pockets, would seem fitting.
That would definitely be the least surprising thing. It's so tough to rank the scumbags between Blatter, Platini, Warner, and some of the others in CAF, CONMEBOL, AFC and CONCACAF.
I really don't know the European take on this, but am I the only one that finds it funny that the country that gets made fun of for not playing the sport (same country that some locals make fun of for playing the sport) is the country that has pretty much spearheaded the takedown of the immensely corrupt international soccer hierarchy? Is North America (north of the Rio Grande at least) the *least* corrupt continent on earth? How did this happen? (sorry Australia, for these purposes you are UK)
To be fair, most people think that the only reason America has gotten this involved is because we got spurned by the World Cup Selection Committee. If they had accepted OUR bribes, then maybe none of this happens. America defintely has a LOT of culpability in all these scandals.....just look up Chuck Blazer
While I don't think it's because we weren't awarded the 2022 Cup, had it happened, I don't think there would've been an investigation. The US was such the obvious pick that going with Qatar set off a string of inquiries. Had it gone to the US, no one would've batted an eye and we'd never know what was really happening.
Blatter and Platini banned for 8 years by FIFA ethics committee, end of that terrible reign. Really glad Platini won't be able to become next FIFA president now, it would've been a joke and direct continuation of corruption.

According to an exclusive report from the German publication Welt, leaked internal emails reportedly show that Infantino tried to delete recorded minutes from a FIFA Council meeting held in Mexico City on May 23. Welt reports that although the tapes were not in fact deleted, Infantino's actions will still spur an internal ethics investigation. Infantino could face a provisional 90-day suspension, though a ban is also possible. The news comes shortly after reports revealed that FIFA audit panel chairman Dominic Scala had resigned after clashing with Infantino. Found additional claims in German publications: Infantino apparently wanted to get rid of Scala and the independent audit&compliance committee. Infantino also installed members in leading positions without them going through the obligatory integrity check. Infantino rumoredly also used FIFA money to fly in private jets and an insider said there's a sh**load of more shady actions done by Infantino.
