Which could be part of the reason why ESPN is going so hard at FIFA. They're upset that they didn't even get a chance to bid for 2026 and they know it wasn't a fair process.

Business as usual at FIFA but is it "illegal?" Blatter paying FAI (probably through a legitamate FIFA program) to not protest, is that a crime? South Africa(FIFA Mem) paying CONCACAF(FIFA Mem) 10m through a FIFA program to build a youth center.

Are both of those actual crimes? Can Blatter be sent to prison for any of those?

For the 10m payment, I know Warner(Blazer) basically hired his consulting firm to bid out the construction contracts and probably skimmed millions using US banks in the process. That probably is a crime. However, I don't think South Africa actually committed a crime correct?

Obliviously it's severely unethical but criminal? Can these fackers actually get away with it?

Seems like it's all about where the money went through, tax avoidance, etc.

    LOLs! Yeap. It was unfair.

Univision and Telemundo will NEVER have that problem, unless NBC Universal Sports (of which Telemundo is a partner for the current U20 FIFA World Cup network right now) was also 'shafted' and they get together with ESPN to turn on FOX Sports about it.

At least we Spanish speakers will watch ALL games instead of "a few" on national TV and FREE, without cable.

Learn Spanish, football folks! It will be beneficial to you!

A dark day for Fifa after claims of arms deals for World Cup votes

The shockwaves from the corruption scandal that brought down Sepp Blatter continue to reverberate, with claims in Germany that the 2006 World Cup vote was influenced by a shipment of rocket-propelled grenades and allegations in Egypt that a Fifa executive solicited bribes during the 2010 bidding race.

    ...

Elsewhere, the downfall of Blatter has sparked an avalanche of claims about major decisions taken by Fifa in recent years. The German newspaper Die Zeit reported on Friday that the then chancellor Gerhard Shröder supplied arms to Saudi Arabia in return for support in Germany’s World Cup bid, in which it defeated South Africa 12-11 in the final round in controversial circumstances. The claims alleged that the government lifted arms restrictions days before the vote in order to make the shipment and help swing Saudi Arabia’s vote to Germany.

FIFA communications director Walter De Gregorio resigns just days after joking about arrests on TV.

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fifa-communications-director-walter-de-5864571

De Gregorio's joke, which may have precipitated his departure, was made on the renowned Swiss talk show Schawinski.

It went: "The Fifa president, secretary general and communications director are all travelling in a car. Who's driving?"

    "The police," De Gregorio quipped.

Since we're in a forum and you're anonymous, and you're not any part of the investigation, I'll bite :p :

Sepp Blatter may seek to stay as Fifa president, source tells Swiss paper

Sepp Blatter could seek to stay on as Fifa’s president, according to an anonymous source quoted by the Swiss newspaper Schweiz am Sonntag.

The report, quoting an unnamed source close to Blatter, comes less than two weeks after Blatter resigned as head of world football’s governing body.

The newspaper said it had information that Blatter had received messages of support from African and Asian football associations asking him to rethink his decision to step down. The source told the paper Blatter was honoured by the support and had not ruled out remaining in office. Fifa did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

Blatter said on 2 June he would step down as president in the wake of an FBI-led corruption investigation, having headed the organisation since 1998. Fifa is due to pick his replacement at an emergency meeting in Zurich in December.

The newspaper also suggested that Blatter’s renewed interest in the job was another reason for the departure of Walter de Gregorio as Fifa’s director of communications, since he had argued for a new start and advised Blatter to go. De Gregorio declined to comment.

Urgh if this is true, guess FBI doesn't have anything on him yet and he's just to obsessed to quit.

Swiss Banks Discover 53 Possible Money-Laundering Incidents In FIFA Investigation

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/17/fifa-investigation-swiss-banks_n_7601330.html

Michael Lauber said the "suspicious bank relations" were filed to comply with Switzerland's regulations against money laundering.

The federal prosecutor described a "huge and complex" case which targets "criminal mismanagement and money-laundering" in the bidding contests which sent the 2018 World Cup to Russia and the 2022 tournament to Qatar.

Lauber is prepared for either country to be stripped of the hosting rights if new evidence proves wrongdoing.

Lauber said he "does not exclude" interviewing FIFA President Sepp Blatter and secretary-general Jerome Valcke in the future, though they are not currently under suspicion.
