You do not get Superstar potential at Draft position 18......... They would be happy if his ceiling is a borderline Allstar or a good player. Well Zach and Marc are getting older....
Some think he doesn't belong in the NBA right now. Some don't understand why he was even drafted. Some don't understand why Kentucky signed him. And some don't even think he should have been allowed to play on his high school team. So what. When you look at the history of player development in the NBA....the odds are basically nil that Terrence becomes a superstar....the odds are very low that Terrence will be a borderline All-star, the odds are highest that Terrence will be somewhere around the 100th to 300th best player in the NBA for a few seasons before fading away to a bit player or foreign league player in his thirties. And the odds are relative high that Terrence is completely out of basketball within the next 5 years. Look at player development history. Find players that have had a similar first 3 seasons to Terrence. Look at all the players that have been drafted in the first round, and that have been drafted at pick 18. Look at players that were drafted after 2 college seasons. Look at players of similar size. And extrapolate. You'll find out the odds are higher that OKC wins the draft lottery than that Terrence ever becomes a superstar or All-Star.
Yeah, he stops being aggressive after his first stint. He shouldn't because the Mavs have no on to stop him unless they place Tyson on him. I just wish Jones was more aware on both ends. He gets so lost on defense at times, especially when Howard, Capela or Smith go for weak-side blocks. He needs to fill in immediately or Aminu or Tyson will get put back all day. On offense, he should attack the rim whenever Dirk is on him; stop settling for threes! He can be a poor rebounder at times too. Put Faried's motor on Jones and he have the next Rodman, rebound-wise. Jones has the ability to be a scary good rebounder in this league, just doesn't go for them as aggressively as he should. Same goes for Smith, at times. He would rather stay on the perimeter or break out on the fast break than secure a rebound, even though he is our center!
And you predicted he would be traded on more than 1 occasion. And he survived two trade deadlines Not saying he will stay for longer but you were wrong.

He's exactly the same as against the Blazers last year. Won't take the 3-ball. Tries to up fake but the defender is hanging out 7-10 away from him daring him to jack a jumper. He pump fakes and then dribbles into a crowd, then has to pass the basketball or attempt to finish against bigger, longer, more skilled defenders. And so his finishing percentage and shooting percentage is way off because he has no shooting confidence when the opponent dares him to shoot the J and when he attacks the rim there are bigger defenders waiting on him. Terrence has had multiple wide-open looks at the 3-ball and he passes on them. And then when he takes an obligatory look because he's got 4 seconds to wind up and release while the defense stands and watches, he has missed all those too. Then on defense he's responsible for trying to defend Dirk. Dirk's a long 7-footer with considerably offensive skill. Terrence is getting buried by Dirk. (That's why McHale took him out Sunday night.) And Dirk, while still a great player, is an old gimp out there. Terrence should be crowding him, forcing him to put the ball on the deck, then attacking Dirk's dribble and forcing him out of his time comfort zone. But no. He just stands there and takes the abuse from Dirk over and over again. He's the same player he was last year. Sorry.
I don't drink anymore and haven't for some time. I asked about two players from two years. You got the question wrong. I can't believe that you think it makes you look good to repost your dumbest post yet -- the one based on the notion that the team GM is trying to boost player value by dishonestly talking up his players to a THEATRE DIRECTOR. That is perhaps your silliest moment ever. Do you think he lies to his kids about which players he values in order that they might spread rumors on the playground too? Jones has been inconsistent in the series but even McHale said he ought to have given him more minutes in the one game we lost. But you're going to do your "look at me" after every game no matter what actually happens in it. You obviously need something out of that so keep on keeping on, weirdo.
