Say goodbye to those draft picks Kerr. You'll be lucky to get Scola and Battier back for this now...didn't you learn from your buddy Walsh to give Morey what he wants and to give it to him now?

 

Don't think Amare would sign an extension anyway.

No doubt he pulls another Rashard Lewis style courting of Chris Bosh...hope it works this time. It would be a franchise changer.

I dont think Morey is interested in Amare at this time. Maybe Bosh first in the offseason, then Stoudemire backup plan.

 

Except for another 12 mil or more. Scola + Shane + Cook + Hill + Bud + 1st?
Even if they bought out Cook then they are over roster limit. Not easy; particularly with too little time, even for DM the GM.

 

I'm confident Morey will try to improve the roster again in the off season. Even if things don't get done, you can't blame the gm for not trying.

Amar'e a Rocket?

From ESPN:

"One source told ESPN.com's J.A. Adande that the Rockets -- fresh off constructing a three-team blockbuster that sent Tracy McGrady to New York and landed Kevin Martin in Houston -- offered veterans Shane Battier and Luis Scola, multiple draft picks and the expiring contract of Brian Cook for Stoudemire. But the source said Phoenix wanted to waive the requisite physical examinations for the players involved to make sure the trade went through in time, only for Houston to refuse because of Stoudemire's injury history."

This seems like a trade that could happen this offseason. Thoughts on why the Rockets didn't want to pull the trigger at the deadline? I love the trade we made, but Amar'e for Battier and Scola seems like a bargain.

 

Scola (redundant with Amare), Battier (hurts but we have lots of wings to offset some of losing him), multiple picks (gotta give up something for getting such an asset) and Cook (LOL) might just be worth it. The only one I think would hurt would be Battier. He plays great with Yao and is still and amazing wing player when Yao is at center. But gotta give something, I would pull the deal ONLY if we got an extension agreement from Stoudamire. His health would be a concern but sort of getting Bosh there is no other better PF available on the trade market.
