By the way, who saw Jeff Banister make an ass of himself yesterday?

His antics sure were instrumental in the Rangers' 9-1 loss in Oakland.

he probably had a legit beef

I didn't see. But I'd imagine opponents and umpires now fear him appropriately so they'll win the rest of the season as a result

Against a RHP, it is extremely strange for Reddick to be sitting, particularly coming off his great game.

Unless there is something going on physically, I don't like this at all.

This really bugs me. He's had a good home stand and should be in the lineup, especially against Cy Shoemaker.

    Same for Gurriel, IMO.

Rangers fans worship "Banny"--they see him as tough and direct, intimidating other managers and players...#truestory

Don't get the decisions to start marisnek and Marwin over Yuli and reddick.

It's a long season. Makes sense for Hinch to sit a couple of the older players especially in a day game. Definitely a balancing act.

You caught my drift! I do 'member being an ex-pat here in Fort Worth from before the early claw and antler days...I truly hate that team and their fans. When they were at the top of the pile, rarely did a rangers "fan" at work or in the bars waste an opportunity to put down the city of Houston and the Astros. Like not countering me for saying something about baseball, etc, just straight to the sarcasm/"y'all suck".I have hate...in my heart...

That's what we said about their 1-run wins last season. There's a thread pondering their eventual collapse because of it. Sometimes you have a lucky season and everything goes your way...sometimes you don't.

We have lots of players that need playing time, especially early in the season - one of the things that has to be accounted for when you have a deep team. I'm pretty sure the Astros front office puts no stock into 1-game hot streaks and isn't going to overreact to a player having a good day. Everyone is going to get days off, and these are likely planned in advance. Probably even more true for older players.

I went to a game in arlington back when we sucked in 2013 or 2014 or something like that, so I hadnt bought a recent players jersey at the time since it was a rotating wheel back then. Im at the game and I have the red brick Berkman on. Some guy behind gets mad cause I cheer a hit by us and he says something along the lines of, "Yeah... way to go, good hit Berkman, where you at now?" I come back with, "Shining his ring that he ripped away from yall." They were silent after that. I even yelled out to josh hamilton, "Hey lets go out for a beer, its on me"

I'm good with trusting Hinch on who should get a day off. Too many factor to micromanage.

    That said, I'll add in Reddick's career stats vs Shoemaker. 2/16, 2 singles, 2 walks, 3 K's, 1 RBI. .125/.222/.125

Granted, Springer/Aoki/McCann are all just as bad/worse, and small sample, etc. But just another factor to throw into the mix since some have already mentioned day game after night

The interesting thing is starting Marisnick over Reddick instead of giving Springer a rest.
