Of course. No doubt he gets minutes this upcoming season probably over D-Mo, Morris, and whatever rookie's they bring in. Patterson is a coaches dream. Solid execution, plays defense well, does what he's told, and works hard in practice. If he gets moved its probably not going to be McHale's call I can tell you that much.

I don't think a lot of you get how goals work. I'm sure Patterson plans on eventually being that 17/10 guy. But in the interim, most people make smaller, more manageable and short-term goals to achieve on the way there. The same people b****ing about him saying 13/7 are the same ones who would b**** if he said next year he wanted to be a 17/10 guy.

He set a realistic goal for next year. He said nothing to make anyone think that was his career aspiration....

A guy who is ragged on incessantly on Clutchfans comes out and says he should, and wants to, improve next season...

... then Clutchfans b****es about it.

True dat. As a developing third year player, you don't just set your next goal to win the scoring title. And you certainly can't set personal goals to make the whole team a contender, like Clutchfans apparently expects of him.

This guy has the tools to good in the Nba. Good rotational player. He needs the determination to do it, so I'm glad to hear this by him.

People act like Patterson being the best Patterson he can be won't help this team because he isn't the star we need.

The whole "we need a star" talk literally has made people stupider.

Newsflash: We need a lot of ****, and players who give a damn enough to get better is one of them.

13 and 7 should be very doable for him if he played bigger and didn't settle for the 14 footer all the time.

Last year he played tentative and didn't hustle and bang inside like he should which leads me to to believe he wasn't completely healthy.

Once he gets his confidence back he should be fine.

agreed the guys on this board are so quick to turn on a player. hell just this season we went from thinking lowry was amazing to thinking dragic was amazing and that we should trade lowry. no loyalty. i thnk a lot of people don't understand that it's not easy to play on a bad ankle in a lockout-shortened season in the NBA. im very excited to see how he does next season.

yes we need a star, but right now Patterson isn't really going to help us get him. out best chance of getting a star is moving lowry, scola, or martin to a lower team for a draft pick and a couple of "assests". if we had this team with yao/tmac we would win championship after championship. even if we only had yao OR tmac(just one of them) we would still be huge championship contenders. i know being a rocketfan can be tough, but it's all about patience. it'll happen. all it takes is one good trade.

He could have complained about constantly and didn't. IIRC, he only brought up like once all season. all the complains about him this past season are directly in line with having a bad ankle. One more season is all he needs to prove if he's worth keeping.

Stop complaining about him not being a star. This isn't a one on one tournament. We're going to need other good players as well. Having players improve is always a good thing. If we don't keep him, at least he's worth more in a trade.

All he has to do is grab about 3 more rebounds to be a solid rebounding PF. 12 and 8 is realistic for him.

Its not clutchfans, its just this one joke of a poster who probably spends all his time hating on his own team. Honestly if you're the type of person who's such a loser you'd posted r****ded crap about a player working hard on his game and trying to improve then I'm sure the Rockets org would rather not have you on their bandwagon. Texnificent, just change your moniker to Thunderstruck or whatever and go cry on lakersground.net.

He's a cool dude, and I really appreciate that he didn't complain about it. He works hard on the court, so hopefully he gets in a good off-season of work and can come back a lot better next year.

What to believe, what to believe. I want to believe in PatPat; must I believe mine eyes?

This. The skill-set appeared to be there his rookie year, and up until this admission of playing hurt all season, i had no explaination for why Pat took a step back this year. The effort, work-ethic, and mindset are all there with Patterson. When he regains his health I expect him to put it all together.

Given that we have to trade one of our 4s, I'm really hoping it's not Pat. I'd like to give him another year to prove that he can be the player we all thought he was after his rookie year.

Just shut the hell up man. People like you are the reason I don't come here nearly as often. Why follow a Rockets message board if all you want to do is consistently trash everyone involved with the team? Don't you have anything better to do?

I am not a believer in PPat, he doesn't have the skills of a post player, nor the mentality to dominate.

He is a jump shooting role player, at best.
