So before the law went into effect they had 55 fewer murders than the same quarter the previous year. After the law went into effect, they had six fewer than the same quarter the previous year. So how does that show the law has reduced gun murders?
Chicago had one of the worst winters on record in the last couple of months. If I want to rob someone on the streets, I'm less likely to do it if my hands and feet are cold.
You're reading it wrong, the 55 fewer is this year after the law went into effect, 55 fewer than the same time frame in 2012. At least that's how it reads to me.
That's what it says. I guess I misstated it but it still doesn't prove the case. The large drop in murders was from 2012 to 2013, not from 2013 to 2014. The first three months of the year saw 6 fewer murders than the same time frame in 2013–a 9 percent drop–and 55 fewer murders than 2012, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Well obviously there are other factors involved, and of course correlation doesn't imply causation. However, one thing IS certain - the new law did not INCREASE murders. Whether it for sure was a contributor to the decrease, only time and research will tell that.

This article definitely claims causation. In fact CHL holders that I speak with frequently claim causation.

This is interesting because Chicago didn't pass concealed carry until July 2013, and didn't start issuing permits until the end of February 2014 (a month ago).
Okay let's see... March 1, 2014 is when Illinois mailed out their first 5,000 C&C permits. Further they only mailed out 5,000 in ALL of Illinois... So, people in Illinois have had permits for about a month. Of that 5,000 many are security and firearm trades. How many people in Illinois? 13,000,000.... 5,000 permits issues started a month ago..... CAUSATION and CORRELATION are not the same. OP.... Go back to faking illnesses and visiting the Creation "museum".
2014 had 6 fewer murders to this point than 2013. 2014 had 55 fewer murders to this point than 2012. So 2013 had 46 fewer murders to this point than 2012. Seems like the percentage drop was much more drastic before the law than after it, 52% drop from 2012 to 2013, 9% from 2013 to 2014.
